Hello and good evening,

I'm quite new to the forum and don't get on much so the chances are I'm a stranger to everyone.

I'm starting out racing pigeons this year ater a long break and I'm looking forward to racing young birds with my local club Stamford and District Homing Society.

After alot of effort my loft is finished, it is 16ft by 8ft I've attached some pitures for you all to see.

Anyway my birds arrive tommorow and I have no nestbowls so I was wondering if anyone had any ceramic nest bowls spare that they would sell me, I need approx 20. I live in Stamford Lincs and collection is no problem.

Thank you,

Lee

Hi Lee Sorry i cannot help with any nest bowls, but just to say hi mate - i am a member of Stamford club, it's a good club with approx 17 members, and quite a few handy fliers, so plenty of good competition! Like your loft mate, looks really nice - i heard we had a new application in stamford, are you down the waterfurlong allotments?

Drop me a line with some phone details and when you are settled you are more than welcome to drop by and have a cuppa, i am not far away at collyweston, four of us fly from here. I also walk dogs down at waterfurlong every day, so i will look out for you mate?

If you need anything else just ask, i will also ask round some other meebers to see if they have any bowls to spare?

Cheers mate, Julian.

Not far from you... but cheaper than petrol to buy a few...

However, the best, and a great nest bowl is to simply place two bricks at right angles. Then both are always close and happy, contented. Better than clay bowls... and better than the carboard ones I believe.

Nice loft mate, are you going to preserve it with woodstain or anything?  ;)

You don't really need nest bowls for YBs. As Roland said, a couple of bricks are all you need for YBs. I have even used 2X1 srewed into squares. Be careful with straw. It can cause you serious problems if it is dirty or contaminated. You would be better of using course horse bedding. It is dust free and clean. Better still it can be stirred every day to make sure there are no wet patches anywhere. The only drawback is the fact that YBs will often nest in the bedding and there is not a lot you can do to stop it.

Yep and Straw can get a stuck in or damage the eyes. Also as a Tube, lots of undesirables can live in there .... micro wave straw etc. for a minute first if you must use in nest boxes.
