Guest anto Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 I know all the ring numbers of my birds without going down to the loft and know what colour they are - and know which boxes each one is in I also know the ring numbers of the parents that bred them without looking them up (or the name of the person who bred them if we didn't) is that sad do you ever go out ;D
Guest gladdo Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 me ive just bought full round for stock but ill sell all other birds to make room in stock for only these 22 ..... he he he
Guest IB Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 I bred more youngsters last year but lost fewer birds than I expected, so ended up with too many for my 16 nest boxes. I don't breed off every pair and I will also not be pairing till March 11th, so between breeding fewer YBs and the birds racing the full program things will balance out.
Guest Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Seems to me there is a very simple solution to having too many racing birds.Race them, to many scared of losing them i think. After all that is what they are there for. ;D

On race day i could write all my birds out then pass them in order to the list so the marker had an easy job, its no harder to do that than not doing it. I can still recall ring numbers from 1975, NU 75 h 4373, white grizzle cock, amongst others!!
hotrod Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 how many of us keep to many birds ? not me mate have plenty room for my birds and only breed/keep about 30 youngsters in a 9ftx6ft section, ive nine pair of yearlings in a 6ftx6ft section, and 12 pair of oldbirds and a few more yearlings in a 10ft x6ft section so i dont think that is overcrowding .
