jimmy white Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 why oh why do fanciers train latebreds at this time of the year,, one at my loft now,, obviously finished for the season absolutely done in,, the same happens every year, its freezing here, definately not training weather ,, for any pigeon ,, my opinion ,or my advice, is to have plenty patience with these young birds , theve more chance of comming home in a 100 mile race in warm weather , than comming home from a 20 mile toss in this weather, at this time of the year
OLDYELLOW Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 not nessasary been training might of been a hawk strike and flown itself out
Guest strapper Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 the way i see it is...would they like it up there in that weather cold and wet...cos i wouldnt so why should the birds, leave them in and dont chance them, because theres a chance that bird that you drop now ,could possibly be the bird that drops to the loft 1st in an important race for you
Guest WINGS 04 Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 if you are going to train your latebreeds you should do it with the young birds and just send them as trainers to the young bird races

Newcobe... oh never mind... but in Sqills said, or was it Scotsland own, any way said. I was not competing, so listen to a fancier friend that said. Too many don't care and are leading the rest astray like. So I started training late November right through till nigh March most days. Lost many, and when reported I made them presents, or took back and got shot off... Only birds them I had, which wasnae many WANTED to be here, and it was those of course bred from and the rest is as they say History. Any not sure of quickly got the same treatment and had to prove their desire to be in his pigeon hotel... I believe - on decent winter days it is a good thing personally.
Guest youngzimmy Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 yes to cold raptor bait espesialy up here in scotland freeze the ba**s off a brass monkey
Guest Paulo Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Latebreds are a total waste of time unless they are for stock total pain in the backside.
OLDYELLOW Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Latebreds are a total waste of time unless they are for stock total pain in the backside. have to agree
Roland Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Disagree, Latebreds are the best thing, and a boon to the fancy. Can't buy in at fraction of cost. Will turn out to be 80% of the time the main stay and best birds in the loft.... However, I agree one has to have the patience first year to wait the 18 months... then every year it gets easier.

For stock yes for racing no Just my opinion
Guest youngzimmy Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 IF THEY ARE TRAINED IN THE YEAR OF THERE BIRTH I DONT SEE THE PROBLEM A LOT OF FANCIERS MAKE COMMENTS OFF OF THE TOP OF THERE HEAD WITHOUT THINKING MAYBE IT IS NOT THE LATEBRED MAYBE IT IS THE OWNER THINK ABOUT IT
