Guest Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Whats the members views on wanstead flats as a race point, any good.?
Guest Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Ask my son 'Gooner' he will give you his opinion of Wansted Flats George. Every time there's a liberation there, another 5,000 ferels and streetpeckers come out of nowhere.
Guest Paulo Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I've had good races from there with the WDA
Tony C Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 In London Wanstead Flats falls into the Emission Zone which basically means if your transporter is of such a size and isn't modified to emit low emissions you have to pay a daily charge for entering this zone of £200 per day. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/lez/zone/2531.aspx

OLDYELLOW Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 also used to fly that race point hated it was a terrible place to fly from , Billerclay much better and was told it was too close to the airports as well

Guest Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Whats the members views on wanstead flats as a race point, any good.? It is an excellent race point mate, have had excellent returns from there last few seasons.
pjc Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I used to live a few hundred yards from the flats, walked the dog there every day, it is a very good place to liberate, nice and open and the birds always cleared well but as said above the facilities are not good for convoyers and drivers.
hotrod Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 cracking races with the snrpc last two years , with great returns
anthony13 Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 loved wanstead flats..raced it 6 years and nearly won everyone from there...old and young birds...in a strong 30 member club....anthony12 of this site will confirm this........never had many losses from there like most did...i used to call it my lucky race point.... :) this is true mark this was your race point but you flew very well at all the race points when you was in the club. you should come back up here and i think they are missing you in the club ;D ;D every one i speak to say they have losses from wanstead flats.
Wiley Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 i live about a mile from the flats, very good liberation point open spaces, however the facilities like said arent so good, but it is only a matter of 2 min drive to nearest take aways ect, and you have toilets on the land, i think main problem was regarding the pigeons at some point there was getting alot of travellers on the site
mark proctor Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 this is true mark this was your race point but you flew very well at all the race points when you was in the club. you should come back up here and i think they are missing you in the club ;D ;D every one i speak to say they have losses from wanstead flats. thanks anthony for your kind words...wish you all the best mate for the 2009 seasen....mark..n..louise.. :)
Guest Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 never had a bad race from there but i heard about the charge thing that might stop the big transporters going in but at that distance we have moved to the smaller geraldy so doesnt bother us
