harky Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 i still say the matrix as what you discribe is the sound of air in it :-/ :-/ :-/ low on water would cause the same simptoms , i would try the basics first if there is no signs of a water leak and then take it from there , also i would make sure the viscous fan is spinning freely when spun by your hand and as i said in my previous post i could go on all day, a sniff test is the easiest way of telling if the head gasket is gone and any good garage will carry that out easily :)
Guest bigda Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 if it is a gasket hole, is there no a new product made up of copper liquid filings that you put in the water tank, that welds the hole, it fuses the copper to the gasket, as the "numpty says " it might just be the matrix excuse the pun ;D ;D air locked
chris h Posted March 28, 2009 Author Report Posted March 28, 2009 saying that i had a new heater matrix fitted about 6 months ago on short runs you here it bubbling in the header tank when the gauge is it half way.i think it could be an air lock?
Guest numpty01 Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 44 years i think that counts as someone that may know what he is talking about to maney peaple think engin when its not and if air in there it will give you false tem reading also the sound of water boiling disconect hose from one end of matrix then fill pipe with water reconect and run

Guest numpty01 Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 yes i would be surprised if anything else try what i say then ask again if that is not cured air in matrix is a problem as it gives false reading temp and it gives the thought of gasket failure by gurgling noise when in fact its air

Guest numpty01 Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 pull one end of matrix pipe off fill with water then connect again and run engin or disconect pipe put hosepipe into water bottle and run water through it this will alow air to escape then replace pipe and run to temp again
