blimey...i'd say thats quite unusual. i only had 2 reported all last season, 1 was dead (hawked) the other ( a white yearling ) 10 miles away by a non fancier who let it go (dizzy)....i call her 'gypsy' as she took a further week to do those 10 miles. coming ok now though...fingers crossed.  it depends how do you see it whether you want to know/get them back...or the hassle/expense of sending for them...good luck :)

That's good going Paul. I sent 10 on Sat. ! home under it's own steam, and 3 reported all by fanciers. Thought I was doing well. :-/

it goes to show wing stamping is good then ;D

yes i agree but were not allowed to wingstamp old birds just young birds

even young birds wingstamps have to be blanked out if they are entered into the y/b national

although its the rules its a little irresponsible, for who ever finds them wont know whose birds they are...they have to ring the union then the owner which makes it more costly for the finder...no wonder they dont wanna report birds these days.

why do they have to be blanked out for the nationals and why do old birds not have to be stamped

SHU and SNFC rules as far as i know

i know that SNFC birds cannot be marked in any way

probably to avoid the chance of cheating

same as in shows so the judge doesnt know whos bird hes judging

thats my understanding of it  could be wrong ?

You are quite right mate, in theory, it's done to TRY and stop cheating, but there are dishonourable people in all aspects of pigeons. If people want to cheat then not wing stamping or covering address rings isn't going to solve the problem. What's to stop them giving a convoyer or a judge a piece of paper with the ring numbers of his pigeons on it.
