New Global Moderator - Pigeonpete

In response to several posters comments about a takeover etc, there is no such takeover going on.

 

Members are right about stress, Richard and myself have had to endure a lot of undue stress over the past year, amongst other things which I wish not to delve into. And as a results has dis-heartened the both of us towards many things to do with the site and we have a great moderating team who have supported us and the site continually throughout.

 

The appointment of Vallance Lofts as Admin is to help The Fifer, Richard and the moderators and with Vallance Lofts owning his own website and forum it means that he knows the ins and outs of how things work on here, and means that we can help each other out. Vallance has been a great asset to the global moderator team and becoming an admin will only help further and ease the running of the site.

 

The appointment of Pigeonpete as a global moderator is again to help the moderating and admin team. He's been a member for long time (just checked since 2005!). And during that time has contributed to the forum and showed a level head which is helpful when needing to step in on out-of-hand threads.

 

Also, I've read through recent posts and seen replies about us needing more help and we have taken that on board with these new appointments. And in doing so means that if need be we can have a break, as can the other moderators. It's been a hectic year for us and isn't going to slow down for a bit

the integrity of site will only fall if admin allow members to cause it to be  now i for one think after this year of stress for richard and gemma they are takeing the most sensable route the team in place will soon bring this site to top standards and they can enjoy there life together without some grizzling on the phone or constantly emailing them with demands or questions and as to take over if their was whos bussness is it we are guests not shareholders in .com ;D ;D ;D ;D

 

Chris I mean this in the nicest sense but I couldn't care less if Richard and Gemma sell the site it has no bearing on my life whatsoever mate, I don't live for forums I enjoy them but can live without them and that's a fact.   All I would be concerned about though is that after such a long time of dedication and devotion in working with the mods to get this forum to where it is that they haven't been discreetly pushed into thinking they would be better off without the hassle the place brings, now that part I really couldn't get to grips with and I probably wouldn't be the only one.   :-/

 

You should know as a succesful businessman yourself Chris, you don't get to where you are without having to listen and deal with the problems that come with success.  This forum can provide Gemma and Richard with a comfortable life for the rest of their days and that is something they should pay heed to.   The admin and mods can take the brunt of the pressure off them and no doubt the good ones will already be doing that mate.  

 

Guests = Shareholders, not in a financial way but in a metaphorical way (looked that word up)  ;D ;D ;D ;D  Without any guests this site is worthless.  Anyway, have to agree on the admin allowing things to get out of hand, good ones won't let that happen, bad ones will soon get found out, not that this will ever happen.  

 

I'll repeat my words mate, good luck to Vallance and Pete, I don't know either of them but wish them the absolute best in thier new roles.

this is by far the best site on the web of its kind,its a shame that you should have had any abuse at all for the "sin" of running/owning this site, in my view [for what that is worth ;D ;D ;D]this site can/will only get stronger for what has happened,a takeover [which is very doubtful]would be suicide for this site

Let's keep the thread as to what it was intended, to notify and welcome a new member to the moderating team, changes have been made by the webmaster and Gemma after a lot of thought and planning to the team, all for the good running of the site, and to keep it going to the enjoyment of the pigeon fancy, and its members, the admin has been extended as has the mods to form a good team capable of keeping the site interesting and informative to its members, and in my view Richard and Gemma have chosen a good team, and with the support of its members will go from strength to strength, and I welcome the new admin and mods to the team, Richard and Gemma will always be there for the site as they always  have been,  lets work with the team and Pigeonbasics.

Yes I wish Vallance who seems to have a lovely balanced personality and Pete all the best. However even though I have at times been a pain in the a==se for them, I would be very sad to see Gemma and Richard go because as JarGre says they have a lovely innocence mixed with intelligence and common sense. They make the site what it is; some members think they make the site, no doubt without them the site wouldn't exist; however Richard has put his stamp on the site and there is not another to equal its tolerance, fairness and ethos and without him it would never have been shaped the way it is. There are those that will disagree with me including probably my best mate on the site!

If this helps support Gemma and Richard then it can only be good news.

thanks everyone for the support! would just like to clear up for 1 or 2 people, that i have never done a moderators job on any other site! and that i have no motif for wanting to become a moderator, as do none of the others, we just do the job as thats the sort of people we are, and if people abide by the code of conduct. then there wont be to many problems, Yes debate is good, and without differing opinions there would be no point of forums! but there is no need for any abuse of any sort. If anyone does have any problems or concerns, i am on here most days between 9ish and 5ish. (except weekends when im waiting most of it for the birds to arrive home)
