Guest TIMBARRA LOFTS Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 YOUR NOT IN MY OPINION TRUST WORTHY As you have never dealt with me and never met me, thats your opinion and opinions will vary. The Gentleman who have bought from me are very happy and deserve credit for their selection and dicision to come to me, they also deserve a little bit of respect from yourself to keep your own council, and concern yourself with issues relating to yourself. thank you

hotrod Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 just an outside view on this so called (11 yr old) not filling eggs i have had birds who fill every egg even 12 -16 yr olds , but they can just stop for no apparent reason even 5yr olds can do this, as far as i can see , timbarra sold an 11 yr old pigeon and the buyer never got a youngbird out of it and timbarra gave the guy his money back i would'nt say he was untrustworthy. HE COULD HAVE SAID TOUGH LUCK YOU PAY YOUR MONEY AND TAKE YOUR CHANCE.
BLACK W F Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 well you have your opinion and i have mine but a lot of the continental familys stop filling in a lot of cases early the old british familys tend to fill longer just my observations but theres way to do things and not regards alan
hotrod Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 well you have your opinion and i have mine but a lot of the continental familys stop filling in a lot of cases early the old british familys tend to fill longer just my observations but theres way to do things and not regards alan alan many many times i have seen in the pigeon papers old pigeons guaranteed fertile and think to my self no one can guarantee that, from one nest to the next they could just stop and not fill another egg again, i say if you do buy an old bird you are taking a BIG CHANCE . I have a yearling that keeps laying soft /rubbery eggs thats 3 rounds now ,i know the guy i bought from would replace it but will wait and see if it sorts itself out , i wont just jump up and down and complain that his birds are $hite ,as i know these things can happen its not the vendors fault .
Guest numpty01 Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 now as a person that has taken lots chances on older birds some which pay off others not i took the chance to buy thats my choice i would never think of blameing someone unless they knew it was infertile and after five rounds i think its evident it was ;D ;D ;D
Guest Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 In 2003 i purchased a pair of old birds cock was 11 years old hen was 10 years old the fancier that i bought these of did tell me that the cock had stoped filling his eggs, but i still bought them as i new that they had bred many winners so i thought i would take the Chance.he charged me £150 for the pair but i wonted them so i payed what he asked, the first eggs she layed where full i bred two hens\out of this nest in MAY i gave one to my friend to put in a breder/buyer race.he said she was to late as all his birds were on the dark :-/but he did take and did race her in that race YEP 1st open b/buyer winning £1000 WHAT A GOOD GAMBLE I BRED 6 OUT OF THIS PAIR THAT YEAR
BLACK W F Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 i see what your saying hotrod but mate i would not trust that guy as far as i can throw him it would not surprise me if he new it would not fill but the other twist i forgot to mention says a month after got it back it fill ed for another fancier that in my opinion is bull sh-- regards alan
Guest Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 i have 2 1998 birds here paired together, she has laid and eggs look good.
Guest numpty01 Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 as i stated in other threads some you get a star some you dont as the saying goes you pay youer money you take youer chance unless misled
hotrod Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 now as a person that has taken lots chances on older birds some which pay off others not i took the chance to buy thats my choice i would never think of blameing someone unless they knew it was infertile and after five rounds i think its evident it was ;D ;D ;D well mate sometimes thats all it can take is a change of loft to put them off ,sometimes a change of loft will put a spark into them , but who's decision was it to wait for five rounds , the buyer or the seller,i know if it was me i would try as many rounds as i could just to see , like trimming his under feathers and his tail, same with the hen , then maybe try effamol tablets you name i would try different things then if he still didnt fertilise an egg, i would contact the seller for possible refund or swap for another equally well bred bird. You cant blame the seller for a bird not fertilising an egg ,even if he said before hand it was fertile .
hotrod Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 black w/f i read between the lines that you were the guy or know the guy that bought this bird? listen if the guy knew it was'nt fertile WHY WOULD HE GIVE THE BUYER HIS MONEY BACK? I THINK THAT WAS VERY GOOD OF HIM TO DO THAT.
BLACK W F Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 theres a lot more to it than that but i will keep that for another day
Guest Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 I have been to Massarella's for redundant stock three times, the ifrst time i picked three pigeons, the one bred fed winners, the other two paired together bred a hen to score three timnes across the channel as a yearling. The next year I picked two hens 10 & 11. The ten year old laid soft eggs so I disposed of her, the 11 yo bred 10th open BBC YB. This autumn I went up again, for some long distance hens, pulled out a ch had asked the attendant if I could go outside to see it's eye in natural light, wow! Came back in asked the attendant to hold it for me whilst I lookedat another I'd fancied took that out and must admit I was wowed again. Anyway the attendant said to me you sure you want the first one? I said yes she's fantastic, he asked me if I'd seen her age, she was a 96 hen. I bought her , a risk but at £30 worth taking, I could not afford her like as a 2 / 3 yo. The upshot well her first pair look empty and were just under normal size (I have not checked since I floated them, I mated 5th March. Floated all my stock 25th). She laid again last night egg looked perfect and she has laid in good time, so I am hopefull and she is paired to the KO Nip cock I had on here from Cottonheat. If her eggs are full I'm confident the young will do 500/700 providing they get past the hawks. Don't get me wrong I would be much happier rearing out of a much younger equivalent but I can't afford them, so I back my judgement on the eye, especially when I believe the only man who knows more than me in the world is Bill Carney, indeed he is the only man who knows the secret of the eye (besides me ;D) Thought I would come back to this, because I’ve had some interesting breeding results with my stock birds. I bought a 15yo hen at Louella and paired her with the KO NIpius cock I bought on here, they failed to fertilise two sets of eggs. I alo bought two pair of Lefebres at the same tme all ‘redundant stock, they failed to fill too! I disposed of both cocks and one hen and put the other hen in my widow hen section, why? Because she would be a fantastic breeder and her eye is still showing great vigour. As to the 15yo hen I put her in with the widow hens too, why. I put it with because even though she failed and her age, my gut and her eye kept telling me she is still sound! So I put a yearling hen that was a widower with the KO Nipius. When I bought the KO Nipius cock I was absolutely delighted, he was brilliant so I went back to the seller and asked if he had any similar from the same source and he had a hen so I purchased that and she was lovely too, 10 yo , but she didn’t show the vigour of the 15yo!!! I paired the hen with a very well bred yearling from performance Jan Aardens of Tumley lofts (indeed I had promised a pair to Chrish from this pair). They didn’t fertilise two pair!! Meanwhile the KO nipius cock with the yearling hen did not fertilise. My judgement was that neither KO Nipius was fertile, neither existed once I made that call. What next? Well I put the 15yo Louella hen with the yearling Tumley cock and guess what I have a pair hatched in the nest (5 day old). What would have been the normal reaction? Louella or the KO Nipius, if I had not gone with my instincts perhaps I would have come back and thrown the stereotypical sh** at Louella. I will reiterate I think Louella takes a lot of unjustified criticism and I’m sure there is criticism that is justified but what organisation/business does not have disgruntled customers??
Guest stb Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 hey you pays your money and you take your chance. Much younger birds have been known to fail before
jimmy white Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 looking through these posts again, [and albears interesting last one] maybe slightly off topic, but remember charlie wooff [wooff bros , new ollerton] owning and racing two great pigeons "clive 76" and the" 31" both these birds [cocks] were absolutely fantastic racers, not only that, but fantastic breeders , with many different hens,, at the end of their days" clive 76" being 17 and the "31 being 15" these two pigons had stopped" filling" their eggs , put in a loft on their own with a large aviary , after a while , charlie" stuck a young hen in , to keep them happy,,, the young hen laid , the eggs fostered , hatched , these yb,s and their progeny bred many winners ,,,,,,,,but any one of them could have been the sire ;D,,true,,,,,,,,,,,,so when they say, theres life in the old dog yet, it was cerainly true in this case ;D ;D ;D
jimmy white Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 the 11 year old hen , mentioned in earlier posts has laid 4 sets of eggs , all fertille, all fostered out, the sire was an 8 year old son of" all alone" [with a green eye , they tell me ] a nat winner , when paired to a daughter of a nat winner [massarelli] maybe interesting to see what becomes of them ,or, if it comes to that, their progeny
