New Sputnik

Hi Guys,

Just got my fab new sputnik fitted today and was wondering how to get my YB's to use it when I let them out for the second time(they used the shed door last time). I fed them in there this evening can I let them out and expect them to know what to do to get back in?

if they have access to it during the day and you let them out through it they will soon find there way back in. I let my yb's out of the open door but once they are flying and training starts they have to trap through the sputnik or go hungry. They soon learn.

No chance of catching them outside me thinks

put them in a basket and as you call them in and shake the tin post them in the sputnik 1 at a time with a bit of seed inside as a reward.

Get a small plank of wood that can fit from the floor of the sputnik up to the drop in holes and nail or screw little bits of wood across it to act as steps and the y/b's will walk up and down it out onto the front of the sputnik when you have it opened and can walk back into the loft again easily enough ;) ;)

pigeons arent stupid mate they now where the food is if you feed at 5 turn them out at 4.30 and open up trap you wil be amazed how they trap at feed time

i use this method gets them used to dropping through the trap , the danger is if you let them out they may not know how to re-enter as expect door to be opened
