Speckled Jim Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 Whats the earliest I can start getting young birds ready to race. Been told at 100days you can start tosses?
OLDYELLOW Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 as soon as ybs been ranging from loft for 2 weeks then birds are ready to see a basket
Speckled Jim Posted February 17, 2009 Author Report Posted February 17, 2009 Okay so the youngest ( in days) young birds can safely start training/racing is....? i dont want them to disappear and never see them again. yes they have been ranging from loft. they are approx 58days old now.
Tony C Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 If they're healthy and ranging you can start training them of at 12-14 weeks of age.
sapper756 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I agree, not b4 12weeks old, and the full colour is evident in the eye IMO Be patient, too many youngsters are lost, because fanciers can,t wait to get them on the road :-/
pjc Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 they will tell you when they are ready, they will be flying well and rangeing around your area as has been said. You can't just go on age as some will be up and flying before others, just watch them and they will tell you when to start!
jimmy white Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 yes, when their flying/ranging well is time enough to train them [even when the yb,s are doing this they are in fact training themselves [learning] up to a point
