REDCHEQHEN Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I personally never do well with young birds - no points in 2008 - just the 1 in 2007 but they did well as yearlings - its not the end of the world, having some left to race as yearlings is more important
Guest Hjaltland Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Thomas, when i started racing 20 years ago I was like you.. looking round for all the medications under the sun. The only thing I use now is a spot of ivermectin to keep the bugs away... any yb's which appear to be suffering are quickly disposed of. The result of a hard regime is that now I have a loft of very hardy birds which bounce with health, they are out all day every day unless the weather is particularly bad or we are racing. Another thing.. be blind to so called pedigrees, apply your regime across all your birds no matter what the source & the best of luck.
Hogni Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I agree with you Hjaltland, and if i may add, top health does not come from bottles(medication) I have not used any meds since 2005, now my birds don´t get sick and are always in good shape, health.
