i think birds need prevention from ailments but if ailments flair up then they need treating however if you get your managementy right and a prevention programme in order then i cant se why the old ways as you put then do ok as for natural pairing this is only good if have removed the doubtfull birds and ones that have made mistakes at end of racing and keep sprinters with sprinters ectra  :)

hi chris, i think in the long run people who resist the temptation to reach for antibiotics all the time will be the winner's. all our racer's pick their own mates i think this way birds will be happier and a happier bird will want to return more i think.

hi chris, in this day and age if your racing every week your birds are surely going

to pick some thing up in the race basket so treating your birds is a must if you want them healthy

and on top of there game . but you dont have to use antibiotics there is plenty of natural products on the

market you can use but you have to use them over the course of the season to see the benifits of them

if you can get your pigeons tested then you know for sure .

i think your old grandad, allthough a little blunt :)spoke some sense :)" is this ok",,,you say, "they never had any kind of help" im assuming by this,,,,saying that  your grandad never kept "propped up pigeons ,by medications and ant-biotics etc " which, in my opinion would lead to having a team of strong constitution pigeons , which , again, in my opinion, is far too lacking in to-days pigeons  :)

letting pigeons pair up in their own way, certainly improves their" love"  for each other , and would probably race better,

but for improving stock for future years,  :) it maybe neccessary to" selectively"  breed [at least some of them :)] to better them,,  :)
