Bugsy Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 Plenty said after last week's race (and rightly so) this week they have it spot on, birds literally tumbled in, up at 7.30am from Maidstone, had 4 together 11.05 flying just under 168 miles. 24 from 24. John B.
Guest strapper Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 i think your right john they were spot on...and i think just like they should be slated for getting it wrong ...so they should be praised when they get it right..well done boys. ps.. john...ray (down here) found 3 on the loft when he went out there. :X

Guest Owen Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 I am really fed up today. I could'nt send because I was down at Neville Hall Hospital seeing the Doc about a new knee. I just could not get back in time to enter the birds. And guess what, they had a really good race by the sounds of it. Strapper I think you are right when you say that we should recognise the fact that they got it right today. I am all for that. But, they are not children, and we should'nt have to explain in minute detail what they have to do to organise a pigeon race. I still think that the Unions should be involved in letting us know who is where and how to make contact with every organisation everywhere in the Country. There should be no exceptions to this. And there should be a report from the Race Controller and the Senior Convoyer after every race. We still need to keep the pressure on, to make sure that we are having the best of control. In these days of easy communications there is no excuse for lack of information. And if the Welsh Feds are serious in their complaints about English Feds not co-operating, they must appeal to the English Unions formally. It is no good moaning and groaning, we must deal with these things decisively. It is the same with Terry Tremeers Complaint about people sending birds that are sick. We should and can deal with it. No bird should be allowed to go to a race with food in the crop. And all birds must be examined for signs of water build up in the crop. It is in all our interests to clamp down on these things because we are all affected by them. And it is about time we clamped down on wing stamps. One stamp that is badly smudged is just not good enough. There must be two clear stamps. Last of all, we need to stop leaving the vaccinations for paramixo to trust. Surely it would be better to have the Club purchase the vaccine and the vaccinations could then be supervised. That way we would know for certain that the birds had all be done before they entered a Club race. I say this, because I know of three outbreaks of the disease this year. And we need to avoid risking that unvaccinated birds are entered the races because of the effects on all our birds. Not to mention the fact that there is real cruelty involved.
