Guest pigeon82 Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 i know so why do we have to basket on a thursday for saturday lib when were less than 3 4 hrs away makes you wonder doesnt it poor birds sat on their for 3 days sometimes longer if weather aint gud
pjc Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 Boxer, where is the lib site exactly as I may have a ride over and watch the lib?
edwards Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 its gonna be a hard race for them nothing easy about it
fred smyth Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 looking at the winds it looks like its is going to be one hard race only the brave will face it and cross over to ireland , good luck every one
pj1001 Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 The NIPA and the INFC in the past have tried liberations from Carmarthen and Swansea and in both case these race points have been disasters. Personally I'd like the race committees in all the organisations in Ireland, both North and South to liase with fanciers in wales and try and come up with racepoints that are more advantageous in getting as nmany of our birds as possible onto the channel safely at least. Over the past few years we are playing Russian roulette if we send any of our potential French pigeons to South Wales as preparation for sending them to one of the French derbies or nationals. Personally I'd like to see some of the Irish organisations trying racepoints more inland and away from the Welsh coast and Peregrine alley, as Rise suggested but getting suitable racepoints relatively free from BOP aren't easy. What would the terrain be like for liberations in the Chester and/or Cheltenham are for Irish birds? I would assume moving the birds hais far inland might cause possible conflicts in relation to birds clashing with flying into the North West of England, but if these routes where suitable they might be worth considering at least. PJ
Guest JPH Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 you will still have to travel through the bop im afraid :o :B :B
white logan Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 you will still have to travel through the bop im afraid :o :B :B no worry's mate , they gota eat as well
Guest pigeon82 Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 personally ive never raced a channel race but i put 2 birds into this one so fingers crossed but not keen on what everyones saying about bop situation but i definately think that moving into chester area is a big nono as there will be birds going everywhere in the mainland of england this will cause us sum major problems with clashing

Guest pigeon82 Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 Have to agree with you, ours were basketed yesterday at 5pm. Ridiculous! we started basketing at 3 then we were all away by 4 its just weird as none of us live that far from each other but its the birds i feel for if they have a 2 or 3 day hold over then thats possibly 5 days in the basket its awful really
Shortcut Lofts Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 They always say that it takes that time to get the transporter around all the centres, nothing we can do i suppose.

Guest pigeon82 Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 i think we might all need a touch of luck tomorrow between the wind direction and the bop lets up they find away threw but think sum will be sacraficed so the others get threw but thats what we pay for unfortunately
BANDIT Posted August 28, 2009 Author Report Posted August 28, 2009 I THOUGHT IT STRANGE YOU MARKED LAST NIGHT BUT THE SAME HAPPENS TO US WHEN WE RACE WITH THE NATIONAL FLYING CLUB,THEY LEAVE DUBLIN TRAVEL NORTH THEN COME BACK THROUGH DUBLIN SOME HOURS LATER THEN GO OUT THROUGH WEXFORD, IN A WORD CRAZY. ONLY THE BRAVE BIRDS WILL MAKE IT TOMORROW SO WISHING YOU ALL LUCK.
Guest Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 i wish they would forget about racing from s. wales , & go straight into bude . That's not South Wales ch pied, its West Wales, lots of army bases there mate playing with the bombs and low flying sorties, not good for the birds.
ch pied Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 That's not South Wales ch pied, its West Wales, lots of army bases there mate playing with the bombs and low flying sorties, not good for the birds. glenrandal Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 I AGREE WITH EAMON (SHORTCUT LOFTS) IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HEAR FIRST HAND HOW THE LIB WENT DID THEY CLEAR ANY HAWK ATTACKS AT LIB SITE ETC. true mate it would be helpful to hear on libline how the birds cleared the liberation point and the wind strength /direction etc............
Guest pigeon82 Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 have you sent glenrandel what do you think returns will be like in our area
glenrandal Posted August 28, 2009 Report Posted August 28, 2009 didnt send this week birds are in rags hope its a good race but i think it will be tough with a head wind talbenny is a hard racepoint especially for young birds...............
