Guest strapper Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 No mate time for me to leave the site , its people like you with your ignorant attitudes that put people off. jumping to conclusions and dictating. NEVER MENTIONED ANYTHING ABOUT YOU LEAVING THE SITE. But if you got your way and banned geust users who may be thinking of joining i would not want to be on with people like you. jph no need to leave m8, dont take it personal, this was supposed to be a friendly discussion, and you have simply taken it in a different view to what it was intended. this was not what was gonna happen ,as only the site owner can change things. this was just an idea and not meant to offend anyone. have a rethink before leaving m8. ...paul.

But if you got your way and banned geust users who may be thinking of joining i would not want to be on with people like you. nobody said they should be banned but even if they dont wish to post they should still register as stated earlier ITS FREE ,there should be areas where members only should use as the only advantage to being a member is the chit chat forum and if you dont register or post what are you giving to the site other people contribute and keep the site open if like i stated earlier we all decided to become guest users and not even post an introduction there would not be a forum for the guests to come and get free info from....pete

The pigeon sport needs all the publicity it can get but by banning the guest users you could loose potential fanciers as they would not be able to veiw. As i said myself i veiwed the site for 18mths before joining, and not being very computer literate its a bit daunting to join and im sure other people feel the same, given time and as the confidence grows im sure quite a few join in the end and eventually contribute. What im saying is i would not be happy if other people could not get the chance to veiw the site and join when they were ready, not in 24 etc as stated but in there own time. :o
Fair Play Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 I have to agree with spin cycle don't see any point in pressurising people into registering just another way of chasing them away it's all about "freedom of choice" It may be better to allow so many free visits to the site before cutting their access if they like what they see all good and well. If the Webmaster is happy with the situation why make waves
Guest peter.j Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 jph i can see your point regarding the daunting bit and not being computer literate but you could of registered 18 mths before you did and not posted but would still of been a registered member theres nothing daunting about filling your details in..but by registering you are agreeing to abide by the rules i could be banned now but still come on as a guest and see what you or anybody else is posting go elsewhere and spout venom this has been done before nobody especially myself is trying to be a dictator and i found your ignorant comment offensive but thats not the issue here info is free but so is registration i stand by what ive said guest users should have restricted access and if as a registered member you wish to be invisible it should be allowed but as private user or some other bannner to differentiate you from a guest
Guest strapper Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 i dont think they would be chased away because the site has asked them to join for free and stay for free. i would be very grateful to be made a member of a site with so much info . i understand where some say guest users need time to look in and decide wether they want to join ,so i can see it from both angles.

Guest bigda Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 guests can also ruin your site, just the same as members can, and rspb minded can look and take out bits that suit them from this site, and you have no knowledge from who you have offended, yes i think its better to have membership and once you have joined you can sit there being invisible all day long if thats your fetish ;D
Ian Gill Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 I think some of you need to get a life ...people can log in or view as a guest as they please ..as it has been on 99.9% of forums since the internet began.

Ian Gill Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 There is not a pigeon site that I havnt been on and I am a member of nearly every pigeon forum going over the past 10 years so I think I know what Im talking about
Guest Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 im not judging anyone ...far from it and far from being a trouble maker as you said. but i dont think there is anything wrong in what i said,i didnt say members not to be able to be guests(invisible)..i said guest users as in non memebers i think as someone said in my opinion and its only mine it would be a good idea as in another site ,where you have to log in to view. :) Paul, read my words, I never said you were a trouble-maker, I actually went to lenghts to make sure I told you that, although being honest I don't think it has anything to do with you what members do, and I stongly disagree with your bold statement that people who stay invisible have something to hide, that was bang out of order and effectively accusing good people of wrong-doing. If you only knew who was invisible you wouldn't be saying that, or would you? :-/

JMHO

And as for keeping banned users of they could use someone elses pc to register a different name and be on all the time ,correct me if im wrong.
