STARTER_09 Posted June 14, 2009 Author Report Posted June 14, 2009 When the pigeon is flying it record its view in front of the pigeon when u get the pigeon back u download of it and u can see a video of it flight
ally mac Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Just had a look at the web site with the gps videos, looks really interesting . I would love to see what path my birds take up past Loch Lomond then what they do to get past the Rest and be Thankfull. £130 punds a bit steep though, especially if it never made it home.
thunderboult Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 When the pigeon is flying it record its view in front of the pigeon when u get the pigeon back u download of it and u can see a video of it flight i've not seen anything about a camara that does that, the gps does the same thing so why would you need to see pictures of the ground, if you don't recon. any land marks how would you know which line the bird took, what if there's an head wind and the bird is hedge hopping you would'nt get to see anything worthwhile.
just ask me Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 When the pigeon is flying it record its view in front of the pigeon when u get the pigeon back u download of it and u can see a video of it flight reckon gps would be a lot better id say half the time ud never know where the pigeon was with a cam

The £130 is for one I think so if percy got your doo you would be down a good few quid and none the wiser where the doo was. See other similar ones on ebay for £70 or £80.

pjc Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 I think it would be much better to transmit, real time then you could track the bird enroute. You would know where it is, what line it is taking and if it stopped or when its nearly home!
paul10121968 Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 i think it would be worth the money just to see what kind of hazards they encounter on their way home.i,m sure you would make your money back by selling the dvds of the trip on here.just a thought.
just ask me Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 I think it would be much better to transmit, real time then you could track the bird enroute. You would know where it is, what line it is taking and if it stopped or when its nearly home! as far as i know this can be done but was talking to gps about it they said at the moment its to costly but down the line without a doubt also here a tought how far down the line will it be till we have a GPS and ets ring combined now there a idea that needs to be patten me thinking out load again ;D ;D ;D
pjc Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 this would do the job if smaller! This is an advanced GPS satellite positioning system tracker with precise tracking of an object anywhere in the world, works on all available GSM/GPRS mobile networks 850/900/1800/1900MHZ. Can be used to prevent vehicle theft, children protection, old people, pets, covert tracking, covert listening, etc... FEATURES: Support non-server based location Location memorization Auto location report Authorize/delete the tracking phone number Covert alert & voice surveillance Geo-Fence: alert in case of breaching the predefined district Movement alert: alert in case of movement Speed alert: alert in case of excess of the predefinded speed Power alert: alert when device is being switched off HOW IT WORKS Simply insert a GSM sim card into the GPS unit. Whenever you call the unit it will respond with the coordinates of its location thru a SMS message. You can then use these coordinates on any mapping software (for example google earth) which will show where exactly the unit is located. With some little setup, you can also have the device to send the data directly to a computer thru GPRS and display its location on a map with our bundled software for real-time location tracking. For more detailed instruction, you can click the following link to see the menu: General Menu (General setup & tracking thru SMS) Menu for the PC Tracking Application

You would know where it is, what line it is taking and if it stopped or when its nearly home! or if it was a long distance race you would see where it's roosted up for the night . and that would enable people to cheat.
pjc Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 or if it was a long distance race you would see where it's roosted up for the night . and that would enable people to cheat. true, think of what could have been won at last years europa but would you want to race a bird with extra weight?
STARTER_09 Posted June 14, 2009 Author Report Posted June 14, 2009 Good stuff i would taking the pigeons to far i know anything could happen to you pigeon but it would be good to see were your go speed route it takes might get one
GREENGRASS Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 no chance of cheating with the GEM gps system because the bird wearing the device must return home for you to download the data using google earth, the info provided is average speed and also speed at any number of set pointers. if you want to know which route your birds take when homing it shows you exactly also at what height they were flying at etc. I was sure brian said it was £130 for the software and one gps device and all others were £99 after that.
