Guest strapper Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 hi this picture below shows me that the kidneys have been affected in some way,the string like formation is a clear sign of this....normally seen in paramixo infections....this is different though. what ever it is...wether a slight infection or something they have eaten...its certainly the kidneys.

Why do you say the formation of the droppings would indicate kidney problems? :-/
Guest Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 yep they have more latey as i have been very slack on them :-/ Spend more time with the birds and less on here ;D ;D The bad habits your birds pick up as young birds (like sitting out on the roof, picking0, will stay with them and it will be difficult to break them of those habits. I had a hen 2 years ago that kept going out onto the country lane by me and picking about, I never bothered to stop her. This year she started dragging my youngsters to do the same thing. Needless to say she has gone now, and the youngsters were stopped from doing it before it became a habit.
Guest BRYANBROCK Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 have seen this before with birds sitting on roofs all day picking from the gutters it might be lack of vitamins or protein try keeping them in for a few days and give some multi vits gem vits is the best around well i think so and feed protein e.t.c. bucktons expert small seeds but full of protein and fat

hepste Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 Some fanciers get too wound up about droppings. Unless these droppings are one of a combination of things out of place with your birds, don't worry about it, especially at this time of the year, when the birds are not racing and breeding. If something is amiss, it nonetheless is all about building up a good immune system - the natural way. I have a 2 year old pigeon whose droppings are rarely as they should be. He has been a very consistent racer for me, scoring at National level this year from 400 mls (on the day).

Guest Owen Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 I would get your droppings tested. They are not as they should be. The cause of the trouble could be anything really. Lack of ventilation, eating rubbish, bad feed, anything. As Strapper says, the kidneys could be affected, something that will ruin your chances racing. The first thing is the have the droppings analysed to eliminate the internal problems. Then move on to the loft and make sure your ventilation is working properly and finally exercise some discipline and stop them from fielding or pecking about at things that are doing them harm. Try to have a local Vet or a Pigeon Fancier with a microscope to check for you but if you are struggling to find someone, I'll do it for you. pm me.
jack Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 were your pigeons up eating out of the cutters
vanreets Posted September 25, 2009 Author Report Posted September 25, 2009 were your pigeons up eating out of the cutters no many sitting round the garden sometimes on the roof though but never seen eatin g out of gutters too well fed for that
Guest strapper Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 Why do you say the formation of the droppings would indicate kidney problems? :-/ when the kidneys are affected they show in the droppings in a string like formation as in the pic placed by the person starting the thread...this isnt out of geuss work its down to me studying pigeons and their diseases for a long while...i aint the best at this...but what i do know is what i stated. as i stated ...this is a common sign in paramixo where the illness affects the kidneys, where they can fail. antibiotics can also kick them back into action resulting in the weakening of the illness. i think a lot of fanciers have seen this formation at times...especially in the last 2years with numerous outbreaks of para..especially the one thats been hitting fanciers without the common head twisting.
vanreets Posted September 25, 2009 Author Report Posted September 25, 2009 as many of you know i have got this "polish" pigeon what no ones what it is well i have found out that every so often when it wlks it loses balance :-/ well it has no been going out side a lot now and i have found it has been a very good dropper as does not fly much i think many due too not having many flight feathers p.s if anyone wants him then please pm me he is from great sprint stock and his brother was sold for £300 lol only jokes no one can have my little mate
Guest IB Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 On a more serious note, if your pigeon is losing its balance, then that's not normal. You'd be advised to get it checked over. The 'not flying' bit could be another clue that there's something wrong there.

Guest Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 If this bird has a loss of balance disorder, the chances are it has one of the following problems, Paramyxovirus, Salmonellosis or Streptococcosis, and should be seen by a vet for diagnosis. In the mean time, my advice would be to isolate the bird until you have the results from your vet, otherwise you could be in grave danger of spreading the possibility of disease (if not already happened). This, combined with another of your threads, regarding droppings, indicates to me that all is not well in your loft.
