in Scotland it to be 5 meters from your own and   a neighbour's   door

Welcome.

Its not only the distance you need to check with your local council but you also need to check for covenents on the proporty prohibiting the keeping of pigeon/poultry.

Check your missives and local authority rules. We have, as I am sure in all parts of Scotland, to keep any wooden structure 1m away from any boundaries and 3m from any buildings but that may vary from area to area and we have found that it depends on what inspector calls how strict they are with their measurements

Some new houses now have missives that say you are not able to keep anything even cats and dogs, also we found out that it is not always your neighbours that object and cause you problems we had another fancier 1/2 a mile from us caused us a lot of problems due to vindictiveness and jealousy

not the best pic due to it being dark but i would say around 8 ft to next doors fence but the shed connects to the fence on the left and theres a walk way that runs down there for me and my neighbour the house is around 15+ years old

thats the crucial bit "house 15 years old" what Chickadee refers to as missives are known in England as covenants ..basically .it will be a rare occurance for a house built in the last 40 years to not state covenants restrictions for livestock keeping . you will have to ask your father -in-law (2b) if any are stipulated on the property . very best of luck .

If the shed has been there for a while without any objection then you should be fine regards that, the next thing would be objections to keeping birds in it or as the case may be letting birds out of it, you could say you have kept budgies in it for years  :)

yeah the shed has been there since i moved into the house with my partner and were been living at the house for four years i remeber the previous owner saying he built it a year before we moved into the house so the sheds has been there five years

the loft must be 5 meters from any house including yours and the neighbours on all sides need to agree to you keeping them, other wise you could have problems. good luck :)

as far as I understand you have been keeping pigeons in the shed for as long as you've been there and only now have started to let them out , if you have been there over 4 years no problems, whos to say you haven't had birds in there for the past 4 years, this is my plan for any awkward neighbours

good luck
