blaz Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 welcome to the site and hears hoping you start keeping and racing pigeons. as for the law it needs to be 15 feet from any building.that is the law hear in east lothian
Guest bigda Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 in Scotland it to be 5 meters from your own and a neighbour's door
pjc Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Welcome. Its not only the distance you need to check with your local council but you also need to check for covenents on the proporty prohibiting the keeping of pigeon/poultry.
Guest new kid big man Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 the only thing i know is that it cant take up more than 2/3 of the garden
Guest bakes Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Welcome. Its not only the distance you need to check with your local council but you also need to check for covenents on the proporty prohibiting the keeping of pigeon/poultry. i rent the house from my girlfriends farther he said he hasnt got a problem with it my look been wonting to start raceing pigeons for years i had an aviary a few years ago never had no problems thanks for your time mate much apreciated
Guest new kid big man Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 how old i the house. becease if its part of a new estate they put lots of reglations on pets and things like that
stew 75 Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 have a party invite folks on each side of you get them pie eyed then tell them you are going to keep the doos ;)
chickadee Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Check your missives and local authority rules. We have, as I am sure in all parts of Scotland, to keep any wooden structure 1m away from any boundaries and 3m from any buildings but that may vary from area to area and we have found that it depends on what inspector calls how strict they are with their measurements Some new houses now have missives that say you are not able to keep anything even cats and dogs, also we found out that it is not always your neighbours that object and cause you problems we had another fancier 1/2 a mile from us caused us a lot of problems due to vindictiveness and jealousy
Guest bakes Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 not the best pic due to it being dark but i would say around 8 ft to next doors fence but the shed connects to the fence on the left and theres a walk way that runs down there for me and my neighbour the house is around 15+ years old
Guest Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 not the best pic due to it being dark but i would say around 8 ft to next doors fence but the shed connects to the fence on the left and theres a walk way that runs down there for me and my neighbour the house is around 15+ years old thats the crucial bit "house 15 years old" what Chickadee refers to as missives are known in England as covenants ..basically .it will be a rare occurance for a house built in the last 40 years to not state covenants restrictions for livestock keeping . you will have to ask your father -in-law (2b) if any are stipulated on the property . very best of luck .
Guest bakes Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 thanks mate i pop and ask him tomorrow he didnt say anythink ive got 2 dogs and nothink has come of it i think its more to do with the walk way going to my back gate and my neighbours back gate i ask him and see what happens thanks again much apreciated
Guest Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 ok Bakes , keep us posted ,and best of luck . Patty i appreciate your view , but it doesnt always work that way . andy .
chickadee Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 not the best pic due to it being dark but i would say around 8 ft to next doors fence but the shed connects to the fence on the left and theres a walk way that runs down there for me and my neighbour the house is around 15+ years old If the shed has been there for a while without any objection then you should be fine regards that, the next thing would be objections to keeping birds in it or as the case may be letting birds out of it, you could say you have kept budgies in it for years
Guest bakes Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 yeah the shed has been there since i moved into the house with my partner and were been living at the house for four years i remeber the previous owner saying he built it a year before we moved into the house so the sheds has been there five years
Guest shadow Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 the loft must be 5 meters from any house including yours and the neighbours on all sides need to agree to you keeping them, other wise you could have problems. good luck
Guest bakes Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 ok thanks i have to have a word with them do i have to get a wriiten letter from them saying they allow me to keep pigeons with the signature is it just the neighbours on the left and right to me our everyone on my street both sides
Guest bakes Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 if its 16foot to my back door and neighbours back doors i will be ok
gd Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 as far as I understand you have been keeping pigeons in the shed for as long as you've been there and only now have started to let them out , if you have been there over 4 years no problems, whos to say you haven't had birds in there for the past 4 years, this is my plan for any awkward neighbours good luck
