ste63home Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 how do i tell the sex of pigeons???? hope its not hard lol
pigeonpete Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 As young birds it can be tuff, unless you obviously have a big bold cock bird, generally the cocks are bigger than the hen, the cocks have a flatter head, hens more rounded, As they get older 99% of pigeons you will be able to tell the sex of by there behaviour, But theres always the exection, either small cock you thinks a hen or big hen, you thinks a cock, I had them 4 years and still get it wrong sometimes. (not often though ) :-)

little sam Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Shake them, If it rattles its a hen if it donsent its a cock
billy wilson Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 as young cocks develop they have more colour in the crop and neck hens are dull in the same place, not as shiny
Fair Play Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 No wonder I have problems I thought the hens had the flatter head and the cocks more rounded
