I run benzing M1 ,, bricon,, tauris,, unikon,,

they are not cheap.. the benzing sounds good but it can only use small pads .. the G2 is for a very small set up .. but it does what it is supposed to.. they all do..

I use bricon and find it top notch.. lots use unikon and find it the same,, but unikon have had many updates in the past.. lets hope they do not have too many in 2010.. bricon are only updating the master for 2010..

so my choice would be bricon against benzing.. reasons are:-

pads,, when compared with their own rings the bricon pad picks up the signal in test mode over 1 inch higher than the benzing..

rings,, when testing using the benzing system it picks up the bricon ring over an inch higher on a benzing pad.. ( I test both the benzing and bricon ring on the benzing pad with a M1 conected).

best of luck what ever you pick..

The best thing to do is ring both companies,, they will then explain about their systems and what they can do.

The benzing G2 can run upto 8 antenna,, each antenna are 6 x 5 inches..

I run both systems and feel bricon are better than benzing,, but thats my opinion..

so my advice would be contact both suppliers and see what they can offer you..

benzing - http://www.homingpigeons.co.uk/benzing.htm

bricon - http://www.bricon.be/uk/uk_about_bricon.htm

best of luck

at what height do the pads not get the ring registered

Lots will say the ring gets picked up 6 inches above the pad.. this is true,, but the ring will not get picked up if moved over the pad at great speed..

so every bird should be slowed down while on the pad but you don't want the bird to stay on the pad while others cross it..

You should never have a pad in a loft that other birds with ets rings on can land on while you are racing..

A bricon pad will pick the ring up 5 to 6 inches above the pad.. this is for a ring being lowered slowly.. the benzing picks the ring up about 4 to 5 inches above the pad.. The rings will be picked up through brick or wood with ease.. so you can have a 5 inch block of wood and the ring will still be picked up.. but the quicker you move the ring over the pad the lower it needs to go to be picked up... this is for all systems,,

try this also.. set your system up in test mode.. this is for testing the pads search area,, so when you put a ring into its area the clock will bleep.. so place an Ets ring on the pad over each sensor.. so if 2 field put 1 ets ring on each side( 2 in total) ..try and clock another ring in then..so a static bird on the pad can make the pad not clock..

I run these systems together to test the rings and pads.. some will pick other rings up on test mode.. but you can't use a different ets ring on your systems,, so bricon will not register on a benzing clock.. benzing will not register on a bricon clock.. so what ever system you have thats the ring you will have to use when racing.. I have tried to register bricon rings for my friend using a benzing,, not a chance..lol..

best of luck.. but go and see other systens working,, but most inportantly ask what others have got in the club,, I have to run a number of systems and it is a lot of work.. also results are harder to do with different systems,,

i am looking to get one of these ets systems anybody got one of them? comments welcome.. unikon seems to be a bit expensive..

Next year we  are going to be using Bricon, as are most of the club members, one member already used it and it was simple to use with no problems what so ever so nearly everybody in the club is going to use Bricon next year so it has been good to see positive comments on here about the system.

I know if all the members have bricon or unikon the results can be done automatically from the clocks.. so a lot easier for the sec.. I expect all the ETS comapnies to do a free results package next year.. you can also add t3 times ..

so if everyone has the same it will make things soo much easier for the workers in the club..lol..

Another thing to consider is how ETS rings are recorded on the systems.

I believe some can be recorded directly into the ETS database, others have to be input onto the database/computer by hand.

This makes some ETS systems easier for use by secretary's for admin purposes, any comments ?
