Guest pigeon82 Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 where you from i know ronnie williamson has good birds i dont have any too dear for my looking but thats me all my birds are gifted from family and freinds
Guest pigeon82 Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 are you ok to pay delivery i have a mate from grimsby who keeps bourgmans and they are from a top fancier named marco wilson top distant birds
spen Posted August 10, 2009 Author Report Posted August 10, 2009 don't mind payin mate, was advised 2 set ma stall out 4 next year tho, could do with some advice really, wot do u think?
Guest pigeon82 Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 well all i have paid for is the birds feed and getting them over here from dads oh and the petrol costs a fortune lol your best bet is to start off with youngbirds or buy some this year to breed ybs for next year and if you have the time you might feel like a couple of earlier old bird races but i would say start with ybs and work your way up i have no birds in my loft that are stock every bird must fly the skys thats my veiw tho
spen Posted August 10, 2009 Author Report Posted August 10, 2009 so if i was 2 fly old bird i'd need yb now 2 fly as ob next year is that right?
Guest pigeon82 Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 yes thats right mate as if you were given old birds more than likely if you let them out you wont see them again thelly go back to old owners loft or disappear all together look at ur pms
spen Posted August 10, 2009 Author Report Posted August 10, 2009 yes thanx m8 also new 2 computer's lol.
just ask me Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 spen the list is endless where u can buy my advice is a back garden fancier living in a bad location putting up some good results remember a fancier does not need 20 firsts a season to be puting up good results also what ever u choose make sure the loft is good i mean as in airflow as otherwise no matter who's birds u buy u wont do them justice just a few tips when buying 1 loft location e,g taking in wind direction and where he is living 2 amount of birds he flys also the amount that's in the competition 3 lofts are hes lofts magnificent if so u have to ask can u replicate the fanicers lofts where u are buying from 4 i personally like to buy off small set ups back garden fanicers im sure there more i could add but as u said u are new to all this my advice is to learn to read results sometimes Ive seen what i make out to be the best bird of the race down the results sheet might sound strange but the fancier might not be living in a hot spot hope this helps a little
Tony C Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Good advice there from just ask me, I'll just add a couple of things to he's list. Buy pigeons on the strength of old bird results not young bird results Look for fanciers that are consistently in the top 1% of their Federation results. Choose a fancier flying in one club over one that flies in two or three. Lastly, all that glitters is not gold. Do your homework. Good luck
pjc Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Spen, have you joined a local club or been to a local club? If not, find out where your nearest club is, go and meet some local fanciers, they will help and advise you on loft set up etc and will prob gift you some birds to get you started. You will also get to know what the competition is, what are the best breed of bird flying into your area etc etc.
