Guest karl adams Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 parted cocks from hens for 4 weeks started to lose cocks and hens played up to go in so last week i let them all together to pair up and find a nest box 2 days later they were all paired and took to there boxes things were looking good but today cocks are now fighting for other boxes and swapping hens never had this game with the old birds paired them up in 2days 4 days latter they all had eggs
PIGEON_MAN Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Old birds I always part after the racing as finished they usually keep their same nestbox as long as I have them, yearling cocks are also given a box soon as they have finished racing, might get a few problems at first but by the time it comes to breeding they all know where they should be,i then let each pair out on their own for a while the hen soon knows where she should be,never no problems then when they lay.
lawrie Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 shut the cocks in the boxes for a few days then put the hens in the box with the cocks. lock them in though. wait a few days then unlock the boxes.
