DOVEScot Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 I just spoke to the farmer and he said that the barley he sells is for malting, if it does not reach a certain grade it goes for feeding :-/
holmsidelofts Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 hi jimmy think gem do malting barley Gem do malting barley which is just a higher grade barley, or are you looking for malted barley which is different, malted barley is malting barley that has been put through a process which turns the starch to sugar, it is then dried extremely quickly, it tastes completely different to normal barley, very sweet tasting the bird love it. we use it, i get it by the 20kg bag and it costs £35 a bag, this is from a brewers shop. I will dig out the details and let you know where they are from. jas.
