nogin Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 A member of a pigeon club told me that darkness birds cause young bird sickness and other sickness to your loft because of Darkness System what do u think i was on Darkness System this year i had no problems at all and what do u all think of darkness yb's as yearlings people have told me they r no good as yearling. NEVER HAD ANY TROUBLE IN THE LAST 12/13 YEARS OR SO AND THEY RACE FINE AS YEARLINGS 8) 8) 8)
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 i thought it was stress that caused young bird sickness hence why it strikes when your on the dark or when you start to train or the biggest out break is when they go to the first race . i think the darkness younguns will race just as well as yearlings
Guest Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 A member of a pigeon club told me that darkness birds cause young bird sickness and other sickness to your loft because of Darkness System what do u think i was on Darkness System this year i had no problems at all and what do u all think of darkness yb's as yearlings people have told me they r no good as yearling. i was told the same last year by an older member of my club Thomas , he flew his youngsters natural . the week after he made this statement he too had yb sickness. ask any top widowhood man how well his yearlings are flying after being darkness ybs ,bet theres not many that have aproblem . surely its all down to management ?? andy.
Guest frank dooman Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 i did have trouble for the first time the first year i put them on the dark and thought thats what caused it but have been back on it for 5 years and no trouble so cant put the bother down to the system and as yearlings ive won over the pond 487mls and many more good pos. but you must get them through the moult by the last week in nov. or they will be all over the place next year
demolition man Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 does the loft have to be pitch black or semi dark to get the best out of the dark y/birds?
Chris Little Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 A member of a pigeon club told me that darkness birds cause young bird sickness and other sickness to your loft because of Darkness System what do u think i was on Darkness System this year i had no problems at all and what do u all think of darkness yb's as yearlings people have told me they r no good as yearling. No disrespect mate but that is nonsense, darkness youngsters are so full of vigour, energy and have less stress as they have little demands placed on them for the growing of flights in he race season hence they are more robust to illness As for affecting them in later life is nonsense too, our 3 national winners were darkness babies
Chris Little Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 does the loft have to be pitch black or semi dark to get the best out of the dark y/birds? I have found the darker the better, pitch black if you can get it

Ian McKay Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 A member of a pigeon club told me that darkness birds cause young bird sickness and other sickness to your loft because of Darkness System what do u think i was on Darkness System this year i had no problems at all and what do u all think of darkness yb's as yearlings people have told me they r no good as yearling. I can see your friend knows what he is talking about :D :D :D :D
Guest GRIZZLE GRAHAM Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 THE DARKNESS SYSTEM DOESN`T MAKE AVERAGE BIRDS GOOD,NO SYSTEM WILL DO THAT. WHATEVER SYSTEM YOU ON IF THE BIRD HASN`T GOT A RACING INSTINCT,IT WILL COME HOME WITH THE FLOCKS OF HOMERS.OUT AND OUT RACING PIGEONS ARE AS HARD TO FIND NOW AS THEY HAVE EVER BEEN. A CRACK BELGUIM FANCIER ONCE SAID IF YOU BREED 100 YOUNG BIRDS AND GET 4 GOOD ONES YOUR DOING WELL.LOTS OF FANCIERS THINK NUMBERS WIN RACES ,THEY COULDN`T BE MORE WRONG,NUMBERS MORE OFTEN STOP FANCIERS WINNING RACES.
thomasd Posted November 3, 2009 Author Report Posted November 3, 2009 your right mate you just need that one their can only be one winner
Guest anto Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 your mate is talking out of hes back end ive had yearlings win out of france that were dark young havent done the dark since i set back up my hole team will go on the dark this year
blaz Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 i for 1 dont like the darkness system yb kept in dark tricked in to double moult.why to do well at last 2 or 3 races sorry not for me. then as yearlings start to drop at 250 mile .not all but a lot more than natural yb,s.this i have found out asking fellow fanciers who i race against. the molt takes a good bit out of yb,s of this i am sure .it might even weaken their immune system . out on the wing or in their cage in sunshine when we get it is my way .to them that fly darkness yb,s hope you still have them after their 1st old bird season. question how many darkness yb, have you got that done well between 250 and 400 as yearlings. i ask because like the rest of you i am still learning
Guest valiant Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 been flying on the darkness for years and just look at my results blaz my heart was not in the sport this year and stilll done well.

Its not darkness, its good birds and common sense with a good system.
Thimbles Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Darkness is totally uncalled for and going against nature.....that says it all
Shortcut Lofts Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 We have flown Darkness now 5 years and i can honestly say we have had no health problems with them. I do not like medicines much only with the exception of a Canker treatment, thats it. They get Gemthepax and Cider vinegar and cope ok. Regards yearling racing we have found it to make absoloutley no difference at all to performances or health. SL
