Guest mick bowler Posted January 28, 2010 Report Posted January 28, 2010 The Colin Bowler Memorial Fund I am pleased to announce that the sale will now go ahead on www.forum.pigeonbasics.com between the weekend of the 13th/14th February until the 27th/28th February 2010. We will have approx 80 lots, of single, pairs or multiples of 2010 youngbirds, from lofts around the UK and Ireland including some household names. A provisional sale list is available by email or PM only, as i do not think it would be fair on the other sales that are or will be running, and hope it will avoid any confusion. For those that have not heard of us, here is some background. I decided to set up the fund in memory of my father Colin, who was also my racing partner for over 20 years. He succumbed to this dreaded disease in December of 2007. He loved the pigeons, and although ill health kept him from keeping his own in later years, he was always around my lofts on racing day or weekends, and always kept in touch with many of his fancier friends. The over whelming feeling of being "Helpless" during his illness, inspired me to set up this fund and try to give what help i can to those who are also affected by this disease. We have already received nearly £3,000 from previous sales and cash donations. We have already made donations to The Velindre Ward appeal by Gail Jones of the WHRPU and are about to make a sizeable donation to the Maddison Staveley appeal. As well as these we will be making donations to two childrens charities, one here in Mayo, ireland, http://www.cdshelpinghands.ie/ and also http://www.whenyouwishuponastar.org.uk/ . There will also be donations made to those that are on the frontline as well, the cancer wards, the hospices and the pallative care nurses, giving financial help towards the small things that matter, the things that count and that make peoples lives a little easier for both those suffering and those helping. I would just like to take a moment to give a heart felt thanks to all those that have or will be involved, wether you have helped, donated or purchased. It matters not what or how much you help or donate, every single second or penny is valuable and appreciated, not just by me but by those that will benefit.
