Roland Posted February 24, 2010 Author Report Posted February 24, 2010 Think it must have been noticed. Think - personally it is very practical and informative for any new starter.
willow Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 If you can find a good mentor to explain the art of keeping birds it can be better than a lot of books , i am a novice and i have some books , but there is nothing better than someone helping you to understand what the books are saying as well as showing you the birds and how to handle them and look after them .Practical work is the key and to see as many people as possible and to listen to their knowledge of the sport . My opinion this is only . Willow
Guest bakes Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 have to agree with willow no book is going to be as good as a good menture or mate that has been in the sport years that can tell you what you doing wrong but pigeon raceing is up and down one minutes you on fire other your down putting the boot in the bucket me personally find you can only learn a surton amount out of a book but wouldnt help you out with the practicle side of pigeon keeping and raceing you have to do that your self and learn from your own mistakes to find a system that works for you and your birds and wonce you found it keep to it dont keep chopping and changeing if not broken why fix it all the best
willow Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 Yes i agree with Bakes practcal help is the best and patience in learning about the diff birds and how they work together , and also the diseases they can get and how diff people treat them .There are loads of diff types of birds and distances , that can 'tbe learnt not from a text book. All fanciers have different ways of breeding and teaching their birds , once you have the basics you add to what you have by observing and listening and asking everyone you know and improving the knowledge you have gained with keeping good birds and then helping others in time , making friends also with new people within the sport .
Roland Posted February 24, 2010 Author Report Posted February 24, 2010 Yep, just means opening a cuboard for them to pop out when needed. A vast amount of 'Newbies' never have, or get that' So yes Bakes has Stan the Man etc. and and few other, Willow undoubtedly similar etc. Wasn't really meant for those being nutured and steadily took along. More for the many that don't have, and club is too small, or members to egoisticall to only impart codswallop. But then of course you two are able to appreciate that because you have 'Good Hands' to guide you. Also, especially in Canada as such, you next club member may be 40 miles away etc.
