Guest cosmic dave Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 After my post yesterday when I thought all the birds had roofed and would not come back in the loft I got five back in one bird stayed out all night and has turned up again this morning, It seem happy on the house roof. Should I try and get it back or leave it. I worried about it being a bad influence on the other birds :-/ What do you think ? I can't really afford to loose the bird and do not know what to do for the best. David
sapper756 Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Get it in, but do not feed it, wait till next feed is due, it will soon get the message :-/

David you have to install more discipline, then a little more and a little more......this may sound silly but your regret it in the end if you ignore it. dont let the birds dictate how they live.
Guest cosmic dave Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 The bird seems to have gone again now
pjc Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Its clearly not far away and will prob come in with the others if you let them out again today, but as has been said, little food for it then when they go out tomorrow and you call them in he'll be 1st.
pigeonpete Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 Dave try not to worry to much, when i first started i used to wait all day and night for them to come in, dont let them rule you, you be the boss, i know its a bit gutting, but worry about the ones you have in your loft, not the ones that wont come in, it will be back. And will hopefully learn, ybs are so frustrating and seemingly dumb!!! they can fly 100s of miles no problem, but find there way back through an open door??? seems beyond some of them ;D ;D . it will get better mate :-)

BLUERON Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 have the same thing with some of our y/b .we have six flying great but two off them wont go in, so just let them stay out all nite and first thing next day they were in but did not get fed till the nite time.
Guest cosmic dave Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 I think this bird has been spooked, next doors cat went for them all yesterday afternoon. I watched all of them in making sure the cats was nowhere about. and they all seemed happy to trap with me on guard with the squeezy bottle in hand, but this bird wont come any lower than the roof tops, and he is still nowhere to be seen now
Guest IB Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 If the birds have had a fright, best to keep them in for a day or two. Settle them down, then start afresh with their outdoor training / trapping. And watch out for that cat.
marmite Posted March 22, 2010 Report Posted March 22, 2010 if theyve been spooked keep them in as has been said then when u let them out again in a couple of days make sure they are hungry so as u can teach them to trap at your command and not do as they please mine get only a very light mix in morn then when i let them out in afternoon they get the heavier mix so light mix is about half there norm feed they get in eve that will get them under control atb with them clive
