Guest Owen Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 I have thought for a long time that, the Pigeon Racing Organisations should do all they can to get rid of the Street Pigeons. Street Pigeons have caused the Peregrines to nest in the towns, they have spread disease and given both Pigeon Fanciers and Racing Pigeons a bad name. And it is about time that the Pigeon Racing Bodies did some serious marketing of our sport. Fair play to Richard, Mealy Cock and some others, they are doing all they can to imrove matters. It is up to the rest of us to back them up all we can. I hope David Bills and other Secretaries have contacted The Poisoned Dwarf and put a flea in his ear.
cowman Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 i just been on their facebook page and let them know how i felt about the flying rat comment.

Guest challengerlofts Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Just wonder who will be the responsible to clean up that street pigeons. Its really affecting the image of the Fanciers. Sure, there's a way between the RPRA & Council to talk about this.
THE FIFER Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Just wonder who will be the responsible to clean up that street pigeons. Its really affecting the image of the Fanciers. Sure, there's a way between the RPRA & Council to talk about this. its simple m8, I have told local councilors in my town how to keep them under contoll, they build a place for them to stay, that way they can control by removing eggs etc, give them a\ place and they will live there,
Guest IB Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Joe Public doesn't hate street pigeons as much as we might think. Well remember the uproar Ken Livingstone caused with his plans for Trafalgar Square's pigeons. Flying Rats only until somebody tries to hurt them, a website was set up to protect them. http://www.savethepigeons.org/ Oh, and have a look at 'pigeons and disease' you've heard the tripe, now read the facts.

Thanks a lot as well fron the whisky. I used to drink that on the ship before we go a shore. make me hot. ;D

blaz Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 My mrs calls my lot flying rats.she i the first one with her hand out when they win money.she is also the first one to go mental if i don,t shut the lofts up properly in winter.as see says it is a shame for then they will be cold .you should put a heater in the loft for them to keep warm. :)
Tony C Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 95% of pigeons seen by folk are the streeters, mention pigeons and they immediately think of what they're accustomed to. I feel the only way to separate our racers from those seen by the public is to give pigeon racing a whole new name, instead of us referring to what we race as pigeons call them doves, paloma’s duivens something along these lines. You’ll not change the publics perception of pigeons, be much easier to change their perception of our racers.
Guest Freebird Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 its simple m8, I have told local councilors in my town how to keep them under contoll, they build a place for them to stay, that way they can control by removing eggs etc, give them a\ place and they will live there, Spot on, they are doing this on the continent and I had a thread on here fairly recently which covered it and all the myths regarding ferals and the propaganda the "pest control" company's are fabricating to get customers. http://forum.pigeonbasics.com/m-1267026370/s-0/#num0 If there were no food sources there would be less ferals. If there were less ferals there would be more rats as there would be more scraps to feed young. We are the problem, not the ferals. It's not rocket science, less food available = less vermin. I take my hat of to the wee ferals as it seems everything is against them but they still thrive in the dirty man made streets. The new rats of the skies are gulls ( note I left out the word sea ) who nest on the city "cliffs".
