Guest Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Yes the orange peel would be a good one, Ive got two house cats of my own and they freak out when they smell orange peel. I quite often throw bits at them when they annoy me!!

Guest Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 that's someones pet you are probably talking about. Tend to agree. Much prefer to use deterrents which do the job without anything or anyone being harmed. Heard about the 'cats p*ss' plant that cats hate, but haven't been able to name or source it. Like the orange peel idea too, eat lots of 'em and usually bin the peel ... how should it be used, garden perimeter, loft perimeter etc and does the effect wear off?
southbankhs Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 WHEN WE WERE PUTTING OUR LOFTS UP I NOTICED IN ONE OF THE NEIGHBOURS GARDENS SOME EMPTY GLASS BOTTLES WHEN ASKING HIM WHAT THESE WERE FOR HE SAID THEY KEEP THE CATS OUT OF THE GARDENS THEY DONT LIKE THE NOISE WHEN WIND BLOWS OVER TOP OF THEM 2.GET A GOOD TERRIER
perk Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 i,ve one of the best cat and rat munchers going, i,ll get a picture up when i can sus how to do it
T_T Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 I've used cat scarers and asked the forum if they think they worked. Some said yes, some said no. I've used milk bottles and the plant Bruno correctly calls " cats p*ss. " Not sure whether any of them work, I don't at the end of the day, think you can beat a good Jack Russell.
southbankhs Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 HERE HERE AS FOR CAT SCARERS I DONT THINK THEY WORK TRIED AND TESTED
westy Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 best cat scarers are dogs cant beat them.
frank-123 Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 pisspot is the name of the plant your looking for bruno
Guest jason Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 ferrets!! we have two ferrets in hutches at the end of our loft , the smell of them keeps cats away, i'm also told ferret droppings spread round the loft also do the job if you don't want to keep them! jason
frank-123 Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 http://plants.thompson-morgan.com/uk/en/product/2131/1?SA=1303 check this out for the cat plant !!
T_T Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I HATE cats because of what I've seen them do to other birds and other small animals, besides our pigeons, they play with them before killing them. They are however somebody's pet and I would much sooner them be DETERED from the garden, rather than DESTROYED.
Guest Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I have two cats and they dont get out but have a run that they can sit out in and have found that having a male tom cat keeps any other cats from coming near my garden. So all go out and get yourself a cat LOL. PS the ex made me get the cats, it wasn't my personal choice, but ive been left with em.
jimmy white Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 these ultrasonic cat deterrents do work, i was sceptical at first, until my brother in law got one, there was a cat came in to his garden every day, and pestered the guinie pigs and budgies, he had it just set up when the cat appeared, i switched the thing on, well the cat couldnt have jumped beachers brook better, and all the guinie pigs scampered like a flash in to their wendy house, so it definately worked then. but i dont know if the cat would get used to it, but hes not bothered with cats now.
