aye and apparently they can kill other raptors just as easy

, and the more  eagle owls that breed in the uk the better

Yes and also along with pet cats, dogs, foxes and can have a good go at small deer species.  So you want European eagle owls in or near your coop then, having a go at you staffy & believe me, thay can stand their ground with the like of a staffy.

No, the falconry community were told of the diabolical and illegal comments made by members of this forum; some simply would like to try and educate your people that raptors are not your enemies. I bet more of your pigeons die when they fly over regular flight paths and get shot. Or they are just too exhauseted when racing and then get taken as an inferior or sick bird.

if the forum is so bad why join it ?, the quicker every one of your murdering pets gets eradicated the better it will be for all other birds , not just pigeons

Now Raptor we are singing from same Hymn Sheet insomuch as we agree that Peregrines and others are indeed vastly overpopulated, with this scenario if allowed to continue will eventually "my opinion" result in raptors coming off worse eventually. whats your own feelings. Now for rest of input please leave personal comments out,and use a bit of common sense

Well apart from trying to ignore Tammys silly remarks................

One way would be for falconers to be allowed to trap parent birds which would split up a lot of the breeding pairs and would eventually cut down on the numbers breeding.........

Another is a cull.......... not to sure I would agree with that ..........

Apart from that I am not sure of the solution...............

IS IT JUST A COINCIDENCE THAT ALL THE RAPTOR LOVERS SEEM TO BE JOINING UP JUST ABOUT THE SAME TIME ?

Not at all, just that this talk about openly poisoning raptors on here was flagged by DEFRA & the RSPB.

So had to come over and see what the fuss was all about.

Now i hope that i have been civil & mannered in my communications, as i said, we as sportsmen, both effectivly do a similar thing, we both fly birds, but in a different mannerism.

I've already stated why, so as to try and educate you that raptors aren't the evil demons you are trying to make them out to be. I have sevaral guys with racers within a 300 yard radius of me, and they have seen me out with the birds and we've chatted and they've even flown my harris hawk; their attitudes have changed towards raptors............................WHY CAN'T YOU?

I never said, "Eaten", i said stand their ground & inflicat a lot of damage come to think about it.

Again, why do you lower yourself, by trying to run things down by using silly expressions like, "MISTER EXPERTLY".

What an absolute trogladyte answer.

I do not understand all this in-fighting and sniping between falconers and the pigeon people on this site. As far as I can tell, falconers aren't our enemies, we are on the same side because we both agree that politics and nature don't mix well. What we have just now - a predator / prey imbalance bolstered by RSPB and its allies bolstering artificially high numbers by feeding them, is in no ones interest - game interests and gamekeeper bodies all agree on that. There's a lot of misinformation been flung about too - peregrines especially didn't naturally move into towns, they had nest sites built there for them. That's another thing that bugs us, the artificial spread of these birds into areas that cannot support them. Don't think the feral pigeon population is exactly top on raptor menu.

Whats the chance of all organizations getting their act together, and demanding that these faceless lawmakers and cronies in Raptors Unlimited come clean what their long term plans are, before the wild bird population is decimated for a start, very little human input there, when its gone its gone for ever

WHY CAN'T YOU? cause we have seen lots of our pigeons been taken from the skies by perigrines and arouind the loft with sparrowhawks thats WHY

i stand by my earlier post about hawks. im new to keeping pigeons and i only have room for a few birds. my pigeons are getting attacked 2 or 3 times a week .most times the attacks are unsuccesful but i have lost about 6 birds in just a few months to the hawk. so 6 from a flock of 10 leaves me bolloxed. or should i keep paying money to feed a hawk or just give up keeping pigeons and get a cat :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Well some of you wish it on your pigeons ............

Why not remark on post below............

lot of fanciers moan about their pigeons being killed by raptors but ........... every year without fail I get at least 6...10 racing pigeons land here and feed alongside my doves........ Last year I rang the owners of 5 birds I caught up to let them no the bird was here.............. what answer did I get.............it went along these lines..........

" oh just knock it on the head it isn't any good now"...............  I didn't 5 are still here

now don't dare tell me that is right??

Only 2 fanciers in 3 years have collected their birds from here.

What a statement, pure class mate.  this really shows your level of education, none.

We as raptor owners know what you are up against.  It is happening all through the fieldsport community.  The big sporting associations are trying to persuade the government that what information the RSPCA/RSPB & SSPCA is selling them is a lot of gumph.  they are looking at performing culls on buzzards and spars, in a way to protect the muli million pound game industry that is important to the scottish economy.  But until the government gets on the side of both of our groups, there is nothing much we can do legally.

If you want to poison wild rasptors, then don't go crying the way you are just now, when the full extent of the law comes down on you.

Example & also a true story.

A car was stolen, inside was a land fill hawk.  the thieves knew this, but still set the vehicle on fire & burned the animal alive.

they were caught, prosecuted and got 2yrs for the act of suffering to a protected species.

One of these days you will poison a bird/raptor and it will belong to a wildlife officer or a normal copper and then you will really come undone.

sSo cover your lofts and the Peregrines can't get in to them. You have as much responsibility to the safety of your birds as we do. If you are going to let your pigeons have constant open access, you as an animal owner are not doing your upmost to protect your charges. If a dog is caught roaming the streets the warden will catch it and impound it. If you let your birds out constantly expect to lose some; it's not rocket science.

Falconers are not your enemy................. we as falconers who fly longwings really don't want our birds chasing pigeons........ we either train them on game or the blackstuff.................

I have flown falcons for years and can honestly say hand on heart that only once did my one of my birds check at it's intended quarry and take out a racing pigeon....... the only reason it did take it was the bird was knackered out and flying so slow and raptors are opportunists and it took the opportunity of an easy kill........... I did ring the owner and tell her and she was fine about it.......turned out the bird had been missing for over 2 weeks and she presumed a peregrine had taken it anyway.
