Taylorsloft Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 Hi guys/gals did anybody find an e.mail or contact address for Ian McCall i have quite a few photos of my birds that have been damaged and killed by sparrowhawks and would love to forward them to him i think everyone should take photos and document attacks and kills on there birds and just keep nipping away with info and the powers that be have got to start listening after all that what the anti hunting league did to get there own way cheers. P.S.If you pm his e.mail address to me i can send him photo and give him first hand accounts of sparrowhawk attacks on my pigeons Franny ive got photos of my pigeons that have been killed i will send awell
Taylorsloft Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 why not put pot eggs in their nests rather than kill them. no nestlings, less killing to be done kill em :X
Guest the quiet man Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 you have a better chance of getting agreement on reducing future numbers than getting ones that are here killed.
kev01293 Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 i havnt got any photos but suffer from hawk attacks so would be more than happy to help in any way that i can kev
kev01293 Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 its ok quite man saying replace bops eggs with pot eggs but we could never seek out all the nests and get access to them and theres way too many bops out there already what we need is a cull to reduce their numbers now but at least you bothered to put forward a suggestion and all input is good if us fanciers are ever gonna tackle this problem kev
willow Posted October 30, 2009 Author Report Posted October 30, 2009 when i get intouch with Ian i will tell him about this site and to look at this topic himself so he can see the comments about the BOP ,any HELP is better than none a little knowledge goes a long way also .Please keep the pics and effected areas comming . Avril

Guest the quiet man Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 i appreciate that kev. our main problem are peregrine falcons. we know where they nest and so do the rspb types. sparrow hawks are a lot easier to work with.
willow Posted November 9, 2009 Author Report Posted November 9, 2009 The latest news , I have been talking with Ian McCall this morning .He also thinks that we should have a license for people to have to kill BOP who are interfering with live stock .which pigeon's are .He tells me there have been many meeting with the Scottish Parliment into the damage that they are doing .Hugh Digman is the guy to get intouch with and to set up a meeting with facts and figures on the problems that you are all having . As yet many landowners have applied for licenses to kills these birds but none have been issued yet ,the Scottish Office was supposed to do research into the problems but since have not! Wonder why too much bother . However he did say that in the years he has been working on it , it is a little step which we collectively have to now demand to have changed if there are enough force behind it . He says good luck and that he is now retiring and hopes that all his work has not been in vain , and that something has to be done to stop the numbers increasing and stock birds and wildlife being the targets for BOP more so sparrowhawks .So i have done my bit what do you all want to do about it now , give up or support what Ian started , i said i would keep him informed on what if anything we are willing to do . Avril
willow Posted November 9, 2009 Author Report Posted November 9, 2009 i think it would be an idea for everyone to look on the scottish parliment web site , and have a look under the wildlife section and see what you think .There seems to be some things going on in 2009 which is what Ian mentioned to me .So as i see it you will have to read about the licences which don't include BOP as i have had a look licence nuber no2/2009 .and see what you can all do to get something together for a case for the scottish parliment to look into it . Not sure how good news it is stb as nothings been done yet . Avril
