Guest Owen Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 frank-123 I think we all know what you mean. But this is much too serious for us to go off doing things that will reflect on all of us in the end. And as regarding the accusation that pigeons are flying rats, there is some truth in that statement. The half starved feral pigeons covered with grease and hopping about on their missing toes are very much disease ridden buckets of bugs. I certainly would not want to go near them myself. I don't know about the rest of you? We should have taken responsibility for their removal years ago. I have no doubt that they are causing us all big problems. Apart from the fact that they are harbouring disease, they are helping to keep the BOP alive and well. But worse of all they are giving the Local Authorities an excuse for encouraging the introduction of the peregrine falcons to the towns and cities. I think it is time we were all proud of ourselves and our birds. And I see no good reason to hide behind other organisations. In regard to petitions, I think that the Unions could help us to ask every Pigeon Fancier on their books to sign a huge petition. It is time that they did more than just acting as stray reporting agencies. The Unions form a well organised database that we should be able to use to help us save our sport.

At this stage i don't care who talks to who and who says this or that , i am only interested in us all working together for the future of the sport ,or there won't be any to argue about at all . Have a good day enjoy your birds , oh and i made progress yesterday with making my choice for my own 2 birds . Avril x

Guest bigda Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 which site is it then bigda? if you use face book you have, to have save the birds garden birds are ever ones favorite, when you post up the rspb will come on and say its because habitat is getting disrupted, and can kill your quest off, unless you can defend your self, and only show mutilated birds all the time, then they cant say to much, but will blame the cat there are plenty photos of birds been killed just post them only and only ask whats going wrong nothing more

willow Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 I think you all had better get the Scotland on Sunday the Spectrum section has a huge article 4 pages about pigeon men pictures in Glasgow .Away to read it now , not sure it paints a very good picture of fanciers but its coverage if nothing else .
willow Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 I have now read the article it does not put fanciers in a very good light or the sport , so i have now wrote to the SOS and asked them to contact me about the article , so we may get a better result .I cant copy and paste it as it is too big and is in a suppliment .If anyone else reads it you can let me know .
