Hawk drowning magpie

Couldn't watch it with sound on and only got half way through. Made me sick to the stomach that someone could actually sit and film it.

I found this video quite distressing :-/ When are the RSPB going to wake up and act, we need to stop giving them money from Blackpool, as I believe we make an annual donation, please correct me if I am wrong :-/

if its corect that money is donated to the rspb from the pigeon fancy,then it needs to stop asap.....perhaps the rspb sould be asked to make a generous donation to the rpra to help those fanciers who are out of pocket from losing valuble birds

to the bop..i know what the answer would be ;)

really want to swear, this poor whit fantail, was alive for the whole 7 mins of its ordeal, shocking!!!!! But it gets worse, watch to the very end and the comment left by the moron who filmed the event!!!!! shocking shocking!!!  :B :'(

Swear to god I could only watch half of that as it broke my heart , honestly,  that just ripped me apart .

if you thought that was bad you should see what the hawk did to the duck , goes to show they are smarter than we think.

some real sicko,s out there too stand and film that and then tell his wife or g/f to shush while he finished it off,,but how clever they are to drag a magpie across the ground and then to drown it in a fishpond UNBELIEVABLE  the birds we are havin to put up with they are so CLEVER

i dont no how anyone can stand see it happeing  even one of my neighbours have jumped by back fence to get a hawk off my bird before and they keep them selfs to them selfs only spoken to them a few times when ive been out doing somethink in lofts for someone to stand there and record it is beyond me i go running down garden like a mad un when ones on my doos its beyond me mate

Mixed views. Agree with other posts don't understand how a human being can film that; but disagree with showing any sympathy for magpies as they are probably more responsible than any other bird for the song bird decline , they hunt in packs of 3/4 seeking out nests and will eat eggs and youngsters when they find them. As to listening to cries, my neighbours have wood pigeons nesting in their garden.  I had to endure a mewling sound coming from next door as their nest was attacked by a pack of magpies, felt totally powerless.

 

Magpies always get chased from my property, I've two nests here, as well as the loft, my resident blackies give good warning when they (or anything else) are about.

Agree with what you are saying but replace the magpie with a songbird or a racer or a nice peace loving collared dove. The fact that this bird knows excactly what it is doing with regards to drowning the victim was the point.

had a magpie a few years ago go in to loft through open bowl and take yb,s out nest to feed it,s own yb,s. parents did not die of old age and yb,s never fledged

this is what a peregrine can do, so what chance has a pigeon got? im sure if a perigrine hit a human at 200mph it would kill us!?
