Hogni Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 Youngsters have started to hatch from my last round this summer and i want to try and avoid letting the hens lay again but i´m not sure about the timing and how exactly to do this, how old must the youngsters be for the cock to finish rearing them on his own?
REDCHEQHEN Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 We took hens away when youngsters were 18 days old - but it was the first time we'd taken the hens away it could possibly be done earlier - someone else might have more experience
chocolate Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 COCKS USUALLY FEEDS YOUNGSTERS 70% OF THE TIME UP UNTILL THE HEN LAYS AGAIN THEN HE WILL FEED THEM ALL THE TIME UNTILL YOU WEAN THEM
