shweet Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Has anyone used this spot on Endectocide, I have just bought some for my birds. It says it treats worms, lice and mites. Was just wondering if its any good and how it manages to treat worms when it is just dripped on to the skin.
Guest IB Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Its an ivermectin. Goes through the skin into the bloodstream and from there to all parts of the birds body, including the gut. Ivermectin works on internal & most external parasites.
Guest shippy Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 have read a topic from fanciers saying that after using Ivomectin type one spot treatments that thier birds lost race form anyone found the same effect onthier birds please let us all know
tjloft Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 I think the trick is to apply it before racing, breeding or moulting seasons - having seens its effect on cats - it probably pays to leave them in loft for a couple of days once applied.
Guest joshdonlan Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 im using ivomectin, would 1 drop at the back of the neck do the trick, or should i repeat say after a week? Thanks
Tony C Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 They say Ivermectin keeps pigeons free from lice so I take it from that it remains active in the pigeon for some time. I dont use it for that reason.
Guest mick bowler Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Harkers stuff is too weak, never did owt for my birds.
sir_nico Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Harkers stuff is too weak, never did owt for my birds. hi mick...what is the best then...cheerss nico
Guest mick bowler Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 hi mick...what is the best then...cheerss nico I now use Ivomec injectable as it is readily available here. I put 2 or 3 small drops from a pippet straight down the throat. It is used a lot this way in the USA, and found it very good, although i have only ever used it once and i know my birds were already free of worms (as they were tested before), but did the trick for fleas mite etc.
pjc Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 they will after a few years become imune to it! We used to use the pour on via the back of the nect, the adult's stayed lice free so did there youngsters for the whole season but after a couple of years if lice reappeared they seemed imune to the ivomec!
