Nice one Roland I bet there's some good stuff there but it looks like they concentrate on health, rather than selection?

Timberra, sorry but your talking through your anus. You rattle on about genetics and that you can see in the eye parentage, terrific don't disagree but what's your point , I've seen people that I thought were going to die through looking in their eye and sadly died 6 month later, but that has nothing to do with how to select using the eye; but if you are the genetic expert can you tell those birds predisposed to Canker, respritory and other dieases, where will you se this in the eye??

Now the whole purpose of eye sign (which I don't believe in) is to try and select the best. However I know that you can select by the eye (as opposed to conventional eye sign), I am happy for you to tell me you don't think this is right, once perhaps twice but I don't need you to keep telling me...............if you want to teach me something then I'm all ears.

So please stop boring me by repeating the same thing.

Me I'm commenting here on some interesting articles, and that they do not use for selection and you want to tell me again it can't be done ::) ::) ??). Please stop boring me , I understand you don't think it can be done I'm happy for you to have that viewpoint, I'm not trying to ram it down your throat . So please stop telling me, happy for you to tell others you have not spoken too.

Me personally have never had the whim. let alone urge to study 'Eye Theory' or much else really, so I don't care one way or another. But I do find, many, not all but many - aspects of this great 'Hobby' of ours interesting.

I love to see good, and especially great acheivements more than any thing, especially at the distance and hard races.

So I like to see birds contented, picking about the gronds, for I think that this is the very fundemental of any sucessful loft, birds feeling safe and wanting home.

Now as for traits, well they need many, and I guess that the real art of being a great 'Stockman' is see what throws what, and what doesnot! Then after the all important observation, pairing accordingly.

Then one still need the element of 'The Lady' to seee to it!

Now unfit birds can't be trained to get fit!

Unfit birds either get lost, or return real late, and mostly take a lot of getting them around. Fit birds zoom! Cocks chasing cock birds, neck stretched out as far as possibly, yes  love to see it, then the training starts, and if all things come right on the day... Bingo. Only fit and conditioned birds will win, regardless where and how produced!

I also believe that many parts we strive for are all parts that make up the whole fit package. Yes the condition is all parts in one, Motivation, territorial, Breeding, being Randy, regardless of what system. and the beat goes on... But a better bird when fit will mostly beat a lesser fit bird, and a Good bird beats them both, and a great bird will leave them a little behind, because you can only get out so much, and if you get it all, then that can't be elevated, now a better bird...

I also believe that Good to great birds manage them selves, and if we are having to do overtime to try and get some to achieve .... They won't, because they can't ( Race Wise I mean). JMO

Can't motivate any bird not fit to

Roland yep don't disagree. Going back to many years ago when I used to play rugby, we had one guy (only one mind you). He could go out every night half a dozen pints, burgers, kebeb curry for supper what ever, was a lousy lazy trainer, would get blasted friday night and then saturday would play fantastic and never seemed to have anything taken out of him. He had that 'Scottish constsitution', very rare and even rarer today. If you get a pigeon like that be grateful!!

I've just taken my hens off roundabout Tuesday evening and paired up, str8 away their not so tight, not so sparkly, sending tonight but not with the confidence of the last two channel races!!

Good luck Albear.

I've just got in from work. Went at 6 this morning, and grafted.... I certainly am not use to it, and should know better lol. 4 youngster - from Russia, 19 to 23 years of age, walked of the job. And I can honestly say I more than held my end up. t a frieds and famly like job and when I'm slak I of course have to turn my hand to something to get the bread in.

So haven't sent, was supposed to be at the Club by 6., 30: but got homeabout quarter to 8. Mind haven't had the time they need of late. Yes super duper loft fit wise, but that need sharpening to get the edge right on to be in the shout, so am disappointe in as much as I've slipped three eggs under a barren hen, which are due to hatch thursday / Friday and as this was her first time ever I was full of wonder and yes expectations. Would love to send her on youngsters. Another hen sits all day and night as if she has eggs... a real broody lass, and though nothing under her, she fights and defends her Nest box, and sits real tight I have a job to get of the nest... Now she would only need exercising. Work and rest and a urgency to get home... she'll be highly [placed ;ater I guess. still ....
