You need a macro facility on your camera, this allows you to take really close pics, the MB is not important to post on the site, unless you want to enlarge it to see the detail of the eye

Hope this helps :)

Get yourself a digital slr camera - most of these have macro on them which will enable you to take very very good close ups.  If you want to keep it to the cheaper end you are looking at something like the Nikon D50

Thanks Dovescot, just really need something so I can take photos of my pigeons and their eyes for my pigeon programme at home. Want it to look really neat! ;D ;D

Do it against a blue background if you can, it is easy to edit and put in a background of your choice, that is what is done with pics like these

Thanks 883girl, thinking of going for somehting like this: Sony ALPHA 100 18-70mm. Any good?

Just had a look and yes seems a good camera, personally i prefer Nikon but that is a personal preference.  My advice would be to go to Jessops or a specialist camera shop and try one out, hold it - they do feel different, some are quite heavy some are light, but it comes down to personal preference.  Then when you've made your mind up order off the net, you will get your camera so much cheaper than on the high street.  What ever you decide to buy, check out before hand how easy it is to get lenses etc first.

Dovescot, I am technically challenged and would never be able to create something like that.  ;D

Yes you can, honest it is easy.  You can find out how to do it on the net. ;)

What programme do you use to create imaging like that. Photo shop? lol.

I just ordered my camera from Amazon Canon EOS 400D. It comes with a lense but I am not sure if the lense would be adequate.

Thanks for all the info.

Get some macro lenses.  Go to ebay put in this item number - they are for your 400D.  item number 230190139821 .  These should be fine for what you need them for.  Let me ask my brother who is a professional photographer about the photo programme, we used to use adobe, but if i remember right he has a better one, i'll come back to you.

Most of the programs are able to do it, I use Coral draw just because I started with it years ago, Photoshop seems to be the best is what is used at the camera club that my brother goes to.

It is really simple, when I started doing designs for clubs I got a guy in for an hour once week and with two or three weeks I mastered that type of display picture. Sadly once I stopped designs you forget and it takes ages again :(

Personally I like Fuji cameras :)

SLR digital cameras are really expensive, depends on the level of photography you are going to do

Compacts for everyday use and parties, found the Fuji f50fd to be the best all rounder £150

Compact SLR's are equiped with 28 -300 zoom on the fuji S 6500fd great features on the s series £159

Interchangeable lens SLR digital top of the range, S5 Pro £820 plus lenses, a lot of money to take into the loft or a party

Aldi high spec camera with 3 year guarantee £79.99  :) :) :)

Well I have my camera now but I am waiting for the "cf card" as it wont save any pictures without it. Odd, I thought all digital cameras had even a small memory. Anyway, once my card comes I will post some pics. I can some pics with the camera but they dont stay on the camera but you can see them for a few seconds after taking them. I took some pics of my marine fish last night and wow, the ppics looked absolutely amazing. Where have these cameras been all my life? ;D

I have ordered a macro lens off ebay. So hopefully I will soon have some nice pigeons pics to boast about. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi

Anyone wanna recommend a good programme to use to do these pictures? ie Photoshop or something like that.

Regards

David

Aye, photo shop gets the best reviews, but it is a simple programme that most will do

I downloaded a trial from Adobe Photoshop last night and can I just say OMG. I did not have a clue what to do. I felt really fick!! ;D I have ordered the Coral Photoshop X2 so hopefully I will be able to learn what to do quite quickly. I took a picture of a pigeon on a V perch and tried to cut the pigeon out of the picture. All worked fine but because it was on a perch it kept on cutting the perch with it and no matter how hard I tried I could not get it right. Where do you get the pictures that you paste the pigeon onto? I was thinking just finding a sky pic will do and then just paste it on. Will have a go this weekend and if it looks ok I will post on here. Wish me luck, I gonna need it.  ;D ;D
