Guest shadow Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 the best pigeons are winning one regardless of breeding
Roland Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 Regardless of all the hyped up strain names, and there are new fashionable ones each and every year, there are only two types of pigeons, GOOD ONES AND BAD ONES! Pedigrees are only as good as the person that is writing them! My sentiments also. Yep 100% bang on, and regardless of strains they are first, last and above all pigeons. As for good ones and bad ones, well that is to as what we want from them.... and not neccate what nature advocated for them.
carlsberg Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 best pigeon in my loft was bred in 03 off a pair of gift birds my dad was given in 01 from a local fancier its mother was raced 16 times in 2 seasons and it carded in every race it had.the son bred in 03 has has raced in 12 races a season since 04 winning from 50mls up to 512mls which he won as a 2yr old he consistently is in my 1st 4 birds home every week and i still dont know strain he is BUT i don't care because he does the damage
Guest REDFOXKRAUTHS Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 HOW CAN YOU SAY WHICH HAVE BEEN THE BEST BIRDS IN THE U.K.IN TH LAST 30 YEARS, IT DEPENDS ON MANY THINGS SUCH AS DISTANCE, E.T.C.THE STAF.VAN.REETS ARE VERY GOOD FOR SHORT TO MIDDLE DISTANCE RACING BUT I CERTAINLY WOULDN.T PUT THEM IN THE SAME CLASS AS THE KIRKPATRICKS OR JAN ARDENS WHEN IT COMES TO LONG DISTANCE RACING. i agree with this and i no for a fact there is good and bad in every family and most pigeons came from the same orgin if you trace it back to 100's of years ago, so how can there be a best
carlsberg Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 all pigeons in my loft have to race up to 300mls as yearlings no matter what they were bred from because only the basket will tell you if you if they are anygood or not
