Guest Denny Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 My daughter and I both wear a mask into the loft, even though we have only just started with the birds three weeks ago. I use easibed, scrape the perches and have noticed a large amount of dust already from their feathers. Having had TB when I was younger when living in Singapore, I value my lungs even more!
Roland Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 I dont wear one i know i should, Yep Sam your right there you're wrong. I should also so I'm right in being wrong too! ;D ;D Have bought them too.... but never wore one. :B
blaz Posted June 7, 2009 Author Report Posted June 7, 2009 :)this is the only time i have seen a thread that we are all agreeing on :)
Greywings Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 I've not kept pigeons yet but whenever cleaning out any birds in an enclosed space, especially with dusty bedding/nesting material in place as well, I always use a mask. It's a very small effort to make which will make a huge improvement and prevent nasty diseases/conditions such as "pigeon lung" etc. x
pjc Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 I think a mask is a must but some design changes might make them more wearable! I've got love birds in the house and have found running an air purifier next to the cage makes a huge difference to the air in the room!
Guest Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 Great post! in my opinion, you should all where a mask when cleaning out! i should take my own advise though, as i never do, but when its hot i can feel my chest tight when i have finished!! So i am going to get some deffo now! Practise what you preach! It is a good post pete, but why limit to wearing when cleaning out? It's the bloom of the feather that causes just as much problems as the s*** so I'd advise to wear at all times mate.
