jimmy white Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 what percentage would fanciers put in order,,,, to win races fancier,,,,pigeon
just ask me Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 i think u need both to be honest i tried a few famillies with some success but there no doubt u need to have the right tools great question im happy with what i have now but allways looking to improve
jimmy white Posted December 19, 2009 Author Report Posted December 19, 2009 its the age old question my answer would be [like a politician] ;D without the fancier the best cannot be gotten out the pigeon without the pigeon, you would have less chance of winning but a good fancier can make a mediocre pigeon win,, a bad fancier can ruin a good bird 50-50 ;D
Guest stb- Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 pigeon , ive seen some pigeons win in spite of the numptys that had em ;D ;D
fletch Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 depends on distance would say 70-30 in favour of fancier in sprint races but in distance possibly reversed to the pigeon being 70%
Guest JonesyBhoy Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Depends the distance you race... the further you go the more percentage the doo... Alot of average doos can win short races due to excellent management.. so then it would be higher % the fancier..
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 tottally agree that it is what distance you fly at

Guest JonesyBhoy Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 i would agree that a bigger the percentage,, for the distance,, but still believe management could make or break a good pigeon,, I think it would vary between every individual doo.. some doos dont need any help, some need plenty.. down to knowing your doos
Guest frank dooman Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 this is a chiken or egg one is it not?
just ask me Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 this is a chiken or egg one is it not? a bit of both ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D serious though i think its both the bird and the fanicer
jimmy white Posted December 19, 2009 Author Report Posted December 19, 2009 I think it would vary between every individual doo.. some doos dont need any help, some need plenty.. down to knowing your doos hammer on the nail ;D my thoughts anyway ;D
jimmy white Posted December 19, 2009 Author Report Posted December 19, 2009 this is a chiken or egg one is it not? ;D ;D ;D ;D thats why i mentioned a politicians answer,, ;D ;D ;D kinda hard to really answer ;D

Guest karl adams Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 its the age old question my answer would be [like a politician] ;D without the fancier the best cannot be gotten out the pigeon without the pigeon, you would have less chance of winning but a good fancier can make a mediocre pigeon win,, a bad fancier can ruin a good bird 50-50 ;D that's my thought to :)
jimmy white Posted December 20, 2009 Author Report Posted December 20, 2009 the bit i was wondering about was you often see the same fanciers winning out of turn over many, many years,,, they must either have a way with pigeons, or really good stockmen,, i would suspect both
VMS Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Firstly i would say Location then it would be 50/50 on both other counts.
Guest stb- Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Firstly i would say Location then it would be 50/50 on both other counts. IS THAT THE 50/50 RACE MIX YOU MEAN VINCE ;D ;D
VMS Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 IS THAT THE 50/50 RACE MIX YOU MEAN VINCE ;D ;D You know exactly what i mean. ;)
Guest karl adams Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 im new to the sport (2 years ) i have paid good money for what was good pigeons but i think it was me that let the birds down lack of knowledge i think after some years of making mistakes i will get there in the end and become a good pigeon flier but i think experience is what you need as there is so much to learn and so many ways to do things i am happy with the birds i have got now as i have not won much with them but i have let others have birds off me and they have done well with them this has proven to me that the birds i have are capable of winning races but its me that is lacking experience and i think that me racing birds that i payed for and was at the bottom of the sheet most weeks made the person that i got them off look bad and that was my fault it was and still his lack of experience
Guest stb- Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 JUST KEEP AT IT M8 IM SURE YOULL GET IT RIGHT EVENTUALLY AND IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT BIRDS THEY WILL PAY YOU BACK. ;)
Guest CS Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 70% pigeon / 30% fancier, pigeons do the work and basket will tell you
Guest spin cycle Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 pigeon , ive seen some pigeons win in spite of the numptys that had em ;D ;D i would have said fancier more than pigeon....but this post is true as i often wonder how i win the odd race ...the things i do. is it better to spend your 'carreer' looking for that 'excellent' pigeon or honing your skills to get the very best out of average ones??
