fred x Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 How long would you keep young birds on Bred & Ween, after they come away from the parents?. is it when they start training or when they are ready for racing?
ritchie1 Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 only for a month or so then put them on a good mixture until 3 weeks before racing put them on to racing mixture
OLDYELLOW Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 depends on which system you intend i know the bamfords is ideal for the darkness young birds ( i've not seen the Gem Breed and wean ) , feed your young birds a heavy protien if wanting them on darkness to have a good moult but this keeps the birds grounded feed them lighter they'll fly sooner its all about prefrence
bigdees Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 i know this thread was about breed @wean for ybs but what type of feed do they give on return from race ie a good protein food etc and supplements look foreward to replies
OLDYELLOW Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 dupurative is all they need on return as barley is 18 % protein
DeDarren Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Whey protein powder is an excellent source of protein, with the highest biological value of any food source, almost twice the amount found in eggs and beef but without the added cholesterol or denaturing caused by cooking. It is available from the bigger supermarkets and most health shops from the sports supplements counter. It is quickly assimilated by the pigeons system as you add the powder to water and blend it and most brands contain the full spectrum of essential amino acids, including histidine, which is especially helpful with growth and renewal.
