Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 I have 2 y/bs that after training refuse to come in every time i have held back food for a day and still they want come in like the others. They some times keep some of my other birds out but 9 times out of ten they are the last 2 out. What would u do with these any advice would be great. thanks
pigeonpete Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 Shut them out, and they will come in after a few times, failing that toss them on there own. Are they eating when they do come in? do they seem healthy?
pigeonpete Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 maybe more interested in pairing up maybe?

Guest slugmonkey Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 May be they are just in better shape than the other birds and are not as stressed as the others after the toss, I wouldnt make any hasty decisions I have had several birds over the years that will stay flying after everyone else has went in, on race day these birds always seem to be in the front 1 of them ( 2163 ) would consistently be several minutes ahead of everyone else especially on race day the frustrating thing is that he didnt always trap sometimes he would come in when the 1st drop got there and other times he would be way out in front and trap right in he once won a 300 mile race that was over 2000 ypm by 14 minutes so be careful here these may be good birds

pigeonpete Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 move them on :( Not the best advise you have give shadow :-)
Guest strapper Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 one bad apple will spoil the whole bunch in this case two...if they are doing this persistantly then there is no room for them in a race team. they will most prob do the same on race day...im afraid moving them on is the best advice.
Guest shadow Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 Not the best advise you have give shadow :-) it is if you do not want the rest following suit and they sit out on race days I once gave one the benifit of doubt and it sat out twice on its first two races then was gone
pjc Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 when the others are in, shut them out, feed the others then open the trap when no food left, next day, if they come in chuck them out again and shut traps until others have fed, 3rd day let them trap and feed, if they do it again get rid as you won't break the habbit.
Guest cowboy Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 what happens if you take one trianing and leave one in loft
