pigeonpete Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 i have sent the same birds to 3 channel races this year as follows, fougeres 367 miles with the national, lessay 272 miles, and alencon 343 miles with the national again, all within 3 weeks, Now the question im asking is the 2 first birds back from the national on monday( after 4 days in the basket) were bouncing when they come. and showed no signs of distress, (think there 56th and 57th section at present) I have a specialist 2 bird race this weekend from fougeres again, and really fancy there chances. Then i would stop them for the season i think! Or do people think its to much for them??
Guest numpty01 Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 if they came back full beans after the last race put them back over again as they must be right ;)
Guest Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 What's the sport about Pete? Taking chances mate, but educated chances. When are they going back in the basket? as its the recovery period that's all important. If they came back monday not flown out then they've had a few days to recover they should be fine, me personally I'd not send them as its too close together to expect any real result from them. Looking good is fine but having the ability to perform well again might be a little optimistic, but hey if your going to rest them for the remainder of the season then go for it. Good luck and let us all know how they get on.
whiteflighted Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 a club member of mine had a stay in as a yearling rang the owner the owner transfered him the same pigeon 3 years later won his section in a national

pigeonpete Posted June 14, 2009 Author Report Posted June 14, 2009 Well heres the answer to my original question, NO i wont be doing that again, my 2 best birds came together(entered in the 2 bird race) but an hour behind the winners, But they looked o.k when they come, just needing a good drink when they arrived, trapped like bullets, got another 5 mins after. and waited another 20 mins then come away, At work this morning so i dont know if any more back yet. So i think it was just to much for them this time.
