THE FIFER Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 BART THIS DISCUSSION IS ALL ABOUT WHAT WILL HAPPEN SHOULD RESTRICTIONS REGARDING CHANNEL RACING COME INTO FORCE, WELL THIS IS HOW I HAVE BEEN READING IT, AND I THOUGHT ALL THE TALK ABOUT FLYING NORTH WAS BECAUSE OF THIS, DISCUSSIONS, BUT IF I AM WRONG THEN WHY ARE FANCIERS MENTIONING ON THE POSTS ABOUT TURNING NORTH???? I AM SORRY IF I HAVE GOT THE DISCUSSION WRONG.
Pompey Mick Posted February 21, 2006 Report Posted February 21, 2006 Darren, as I said the first races were from the West road so all pre season training was done from the west. I cant remember now but I think we just turned them North. Don't forget when we race South ,being on the coast, we normally have a few West route races then spin them South . It not possible to get any line of flight training for S.R. here. We normally go anywhere we can.
frank-123 Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 iam maybe reading it wrong fifer sorry we will see if the south roaders turn north whether clashing will be worse or the same
THE FIFER Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 BART WE KNOW THAT ALL IS NOT CLEAR REGARDING RACING IN 2006, AND WE GET A BIT CARRIED AWAY NOW AND THEN, BUT WE ARE ALL HOPING FOR THE SAME OUTCOME, AND THE FORUM KEEPS US UP TO DATE, SOMETHINGS GOOD SOMETHINGS A LOT OF U KNOW WHAT, BY US ALL, BUT WE SHOULD NOT TAKE IT TO HEART, ITA A FRIENDLY DISCUSSION, AND U READ THE POSTS AND BELIEVE THE ONES U WANT TO, AND ANSWER THE ONES U WANT TOO, IF WE THINK SOMEONE IS TALKING A LOT OF U KNOW WHAT, THAT'S OUR OPPINION, AND SHOULD JUST HAVE A LAUGH, ANYWAY WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS LETS ALL HAVE OUR SAY WHETHER RIGHT OR WRONG AND HOPE FOR THE BEST, WE ARE PIGEON FANCIERS WE CAN TAKE IT AND WE CAN SORT IT OUT. ALL THE BEST BART KEEP POSTING.
mark Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 on last years race programme you had land races before you crossed the channel. i know my father in law flew exeter seaton plymouth. i know its not ideal but any form of racing will do until the bird flu is solved. is it really worth breeding loads of youngsters with the future of uncertain at the mo.
THE FIFER Posted February 22, 2006 Report Posted February 22, 2006 IF IT COMES TO THE WORSE ANY RACING IS BETTER THAN NONE TO KEEP THE BIRDS ON RACING FORM, ALSO YOUNGSTERS MUST GET SOMETHING OR WE WONT HAVE ANY EXPERIENCED YEARLINGS.
Pompey Mick Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Doas anyone know what happened at the N.F.C. committee meeting last night. What have they decided on the Race programme?
perk Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 bicc if no racing from france then three races from belgium if not there three guernseys, i,ve seen. anybody know mnfc idea,s yet?
Pompey Mick Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 I can't believe organisations are still trying to formulate overseas racing, DEFRA has already stated INLAND racing only , and this decision was made before the cases in France, Germany & Italy. can anyone really believe that this restriction will be lifted. We are all looking at this May 31st date for a review but this has been overtaken by current events. If we keep waiting for miracles to happen you will end up like my federation, the Solent Fed, which is going to race up to 200mls on the west route when we could easily race into Scotland and get meaningful races. A lot of organisations would love to be able to race 540mls Inland.
Guest Silverwings Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 on the button mick ! bring on the north road.....ray
aarden Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 have you ever raced norht silverwings, there are already north road feds in our area west mids
Pompey Mick Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 There are two North Road feds in my area but they have already indicated that they have no spare capacity. This thread is not a North V South argument but it is about fanciers trying to get whatever meaningful racing they can in these trying times. This means for southern England fanciers that they look to the North for any sort of distance flying. I don't think it will worry the pigeons anything like it is worrying their owners.
mark Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 its a homing pigeon north south east or west still got to get home. it seems to me people have a lack of faith in there birds. A good pigeon should come from anywhere. if the north road is full there is no reason why the south road transporter could not follow the south road fed lorrry up to lib point.
mark Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 sorry north road fed lorry got a bit excited lol
Guest Silverwings Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 have you ever raced norht silverwings, there are already north road feds in our area west mids aarden ,yes raced the north west route in the early 1970 s racepoints leyland ,lancaster, milnethorpe, gretna ,peebles ,perth, elgin and thurso 418 miles .made good pigeons out of them had very few losses after the first two years ,wish they would turn around again , inexpensive racing compared to channel racing , easy training route straight up the M6 .........ray
frank-123 Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 SILVERWINGS THE LANARKSHIRE FED USED THE M6 FLYING THE SOUTH ROUTE TWO SEASONS AGO THERE WAS MASSIVE LOSSES MOST FANCIERS UNABLE TO COMPLETE THE RACE PROGRAMME THIS I THINK WAS DUE TO THE HAWKS IN CUMBRIA & THE SOTHERN UPLANDS OF SCOTLAND THE FOLLOWING SEASON THEY CHANGED BACK TO THE A1 ROUTE(EAST) A LOT HAS CHANGED FROM 1970
Guest Silverwings Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 the east route was tried in our area a few years ago but the birds were getting down the derby side and having to dogleg across the club that was formed did not last very long ......ray
mark Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 perhaps heavy losses are due to people breeding to much rubbish.
Pompey Mick Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 does anyone know what the Central Southern Classic FC have decided upon for their Race programme this weekend?
