Do you think novices/new starters are missing a trick by flying the widowhood system straight away?.

Is there valuable lessons to be learnt by flying natural for a year or two first ?

Your thoughts would be appreciated

There's many members on this forum who would be more than willing to answer any questions or problems you wish to solve, doesn't matter if it may sound trival or not, if its important to you ask away and you'll get answers. As for widowhood & roundabout systems what do you want to know?

Your right Tony,no one can be bothered to do an apprentiship nowadays, just pick up a video, and away you go,i suppose the more you behave like a robot, the better you will do with those systems, but when they hit trouble they can`t work themselves out of it.

Its true you do learn what makes a pigeon tick and  what doesnt the natural ways are more forgiving and i think more interesting for a new starter they will miss out on a lot like with most things you do  need to do some sort of apprenticeship to start off with besides if they fly just one sex of bird hows he going to  know how good the opposite sex are for breeding next year                                                  yours in sport           BOB

yes, flying the natural system, learns you more about the birds themselves, for brand new starters, its well worth taking your time, crawling before you walk, walking before you run,,, patience is the game,,,,but try and have told me that when iwas 14 ?? :) :)

IN MY VIEW THEY SHOULD START NATURAL, AND DO SO FOR A FEW YEARS, THEN MAKE UP THEIR MIND, PERSONALLY IF U HAVE GOOD RACERS THEY WILL RACE AND WIN FLYING NATURAL.

Hi Jamie welcome to the forum.

If you are a new starter you will naturally want to spend more time with your birds and this doesnt suit the widowhood system (check out the problems Hyacinth is having in the post "widowhoods going off the boil") My advice would be to start on natural - if you get the birds in the right nest condition you will have more chance of getting a result than trying to beat a seasoned widowhood flyer at his own game and I am sure you will find the birds more rewarding when flying natural.

Good luck whichever way you go mate!!!
