Speckled Jim Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Have birds with some Kirkpatrick bloodlines can anyone suggest a good strain to put into this family that might produce good birds.
sapper756 Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Janardens or Buschaerts, would be a good cross
Guest youngzimmy Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 briqoux not shure of the right spelling
cowman Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 barkers make an excellant cross with kirkpatricks
OLDYELLOW Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 have found a few good crosses for the kirkpatricks , Delbar , Van Hee , Van Loon , Jansens , Van Braunes , Sootjen however if you want to keep them to the strains already in them try Putman , Sion and Bricoux
jimmy white Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 im afraid that names or breeds of birds dont mean a lot to me,, there are many so-called breeds which make good pigeons , there are many so-called" same breeds" which wont :-/ i would prefer crossing pigeons that you intend for distance /sprint, etc with pigeons that are bred from winners or prizewinners of your intended distance , no matter what so called " breed " many "breeds" are either, wattered down through the years, or very inbred,, a good cross from good pigeons can produce a strong hybrid vigour,, only my opinion,, but wish you well
allenyeates Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Busschearts cross well with kirkpatricks, the ones I crossed all turned out to be hard pigeons. One thing I did notice was if you dropped them as Y.B.s you never saw them again. After that the had hearts like lions. Still have some that are mostly red grizzle.
Guest pigeon82 Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 i have van hee and busshearts x kirkpatrick im trying out this year
tippler Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 hi every one i like to know if anyone new the late pat lewis when i was anovice he invited me to see hes pigeons thay were kirkpatricks he showed me to gold medal winners one red ceq one blue the race point that these wher raced frome was lewick i just wonderd if eny one had eny old pigeon magazines with picturs of these to birds on the front i think both won 1973 1975 many thanks tippler
Wiley Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 same as Jimmy my views amongst strains, i look for good pigeons when bringing in pigeons, they must come from winning lines, as then you can make your own gene pool, a gene pool full of winners is alot better then a gene pool where the closest winners are G.Gran Sires and G.Gran dams, better to have winners throughout the pedigree, sire,dam,g.sire,g.dam, as you have much better chance in producing winners. As soon as a bird enters your loft like the belgians it should be your strain!!!
