Tony C Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 In your mind what would you say is the ideal distance for a true pigeon race?
jimmy white Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 :) i would think tony , thats a very difficult question,, what is a true pigeon race? there are allways factors that make pigeon races untrue, ie wind ,, position etc , so to be perfectly honest , i dont think i could answer that one :) but there are true pigeon fanciers , that win more than most, despite of this
Tony C Posted October 31, 2006 Author Report Posted October 31, 2006 Yes Jimmy there's a lot of variables in any race that we have no control over. I guess what I'm trying to say is a good test of a pigeons stamina and speed, a distance where a pigeon can show its class.
Wiley Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 Forapigeon to show its class would have to say thurso orlerwick,i hear stories peopleyearsago were alwaysproudto get apigeon out of these races and still speak about the pigeons today even tho the pigeon in question never won it ive often heard many fanciers with thesameold pigeon 'the old thurso cock'
Chris Little Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 Aye , you're right Fergie The name Rennes still send a shiver down my spine, just a pity we dont race from there now. You could ask any member of the public in Scotland that live in an area where pigeons are raced and they will be able to associate Rennes with pigeons. Burned many a barbie and sunk many a gallon on Rennes nights
NANCYVIEWLOFTS Posted November 3, 2006 Report Posted November 3, 2006 for us its nantes 420 miles to our lofts a good day race even in a north wind
Guest Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Yeah nantes to here, bout 425miles. But we fly south east now and we got liege which is about 410 miles i think.
