Peterpau,

I would most definately say yes, even more so than land to get a pigeon to keep coming for 13 hours plus it must be healthy and the motivation for it to keep going also has to be there otherwise it would go down.

Beanz. What I'm trying to say is keeping them fit and healthy and well motivated doesn't make my birds faster. They just perform well at the distance. Bloke up the road beats me hands down inland. 200/300miles fair race. 350miles its all my way 500/600+ he don't go there.

He didnt state that he wanted to make the birds faster from distance or sprint races, just to make them faster. Health and motivation does make them faster. Obviously it takes the correct loft environment, feeding, health plan, system and ultimately the right type of pigeon, which all lead to a healthy motivated loft, and faster pigeons.

A pigeon will only fly at its best speed if trained hard and fed correctly, there is no wonder drug to make it fly any faster :)

Batusai.  This is a good question and one that I am sure everyone would like a cut and dried answer to.  Alas here goes with my ideas.  To start with you don't need great birds to increase the speed, its very possible though that the increased speed may not do any good if the birds can't get over what ever your normal YPM is.  What I would suggest is adding GOOD vitimins to the water or feed on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday of your race week, also add a minimum of 1/3 total safflower to your feed program, one other thing I personally do is to give the birds a couple drops of alderberry juice down the throat before basketing.  I am sure there will be those that will disregard this and maybe even try to discredit it, but I would suggest giving it a try and answering the question on the clock.  Guarenteed your speeds will increase, that is unless your already doing this.  Good luck either way.   Ed

Thanks m8!,

I would really appreciate if you could give me a copy of your "feeding program:. I know it i highly confidential, maybe you can send it to me thru my e-mail (only if you want to?) batusai70@yahoo.com.

I am from the Philippines and would like to join the race here, actually the race had already started in the SOUTH but there will be a race in the NORTH which I want to join. I know you can help...

Thanks again m8!

There was a bloke in our club (packed in now like), and its not as extreme as a rocket, but he used to strap weights to the birds to increase there muscle when exercising LOL LOL LOL!!! Didnt make a blind bit of difference to his performances  ;D ;D ;D, but it was funny!!!

you may laugh but i think he may have been on the right lines for sprint race's all athletes use weights to train to some degree. Its just where to put the weights that may have been the problem.
