I name the pigeon normally on the character of the pigeon or characteristics on the way the pigeon looks but it veries,sometimes when uve got a favourite you call it after your favourite football player ect

I will usually name a birds after the person I get the bird from, or if I raise the bird it gets a name only after something spectacular happens, Once I had a yb fly straight threw drop down bobs with a hawk after him.  After that the bird was always called trapper.... Ed

On my return to racing pigeons in 2000 I started with 4 pigeons.

 

A cheq pied cock was tame and inquisitive, my wife named him Bluey after the colour of his ring.

i had a good pigeon lovely big cheq cock called oscar couple of years back paulo looked like a filmstar hence the name oscar,he was a bloody good racer he topped the fed at least 2 times for me and done well in the combines but then i think we raced him to far and lost him at a hard berwick race.

Have never realy bothered much about  giving names to any of my birds but i do have one at the moment,he got his name like this,i went out one morning and left the birds out flying when i came back i noticed a pile of feathers on one side of the lawn,happened to look over the other side of the lawn to see a hawk on top of this pigeon pecking into it,s neck,well to cut a long story short he survived and as since gone on to take positions in the club,realy there was only one name for him Lucky.

Only ever named 2 - 'Seb' Flew san sebastian (700miles) and nantes (425miles), and messac(360miles) and niort(500 miles) plus other channel races. And 'Veronica' won the national for me, my uncle bred me the bird, i had some youngsters off him when he pack in, his wife , my auntie was called Veronica so it wa sonly right the pigeon was named after her.
