Guest Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 The Four Seasons, How to become and Stay a Champion, Feed to win 1 & 2, Fit to Win, Healthy Pigeons by Dr. Ludwig Schrag, PFH was a good booklet too. Any book by Jules Gallez, and Ad Shaerlackens is a top notch knowledgable fancier that is well worth listening to, his Janssen Bros book is quality! My uncle Jacks books on eyesign are very good too! And I found Masters of the Art of Racing & Breeding quite interesting!

Guest Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 Pigeon's For Everyone by Douglas McClary is an excelent book covering many aspects of both sides of the fancy [showing and racing],there is a very good chapter on advanced showing techniques,in depth section on sex linked pairings/breeding for colour/use of recessive colour genes etc.The book also covers all the basics of racing, management of the moult, feeding and just about every other aspect of pigeon keeping you can think of.

schouwman71 Posted July 4, 2007 Report Posted July 4, 2007 Loft stock and Barrel by barry mcnicolas, wont go far wrong with this book.
jimmy white Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 levi,s book" on the pigeon" is one of the most interesting , but as far as racing goes , dave allens book is a good guide to the beginner , but the old dr barkers book on the racing pigeon , still takes some beating
me Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 With all the back stabbing in the doos around "me" I would suggest "Julius Ceaser" by Shakespeare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wayne77 Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 Geoff Kirkland good read as is Ken Kippax but you can't go wrong with Squills and stud book get them every year these outline the winning fanciers and methods of that year. Great winter reading. Now dvd's the secrets ones by Jim Jenner can't wait till another one done.
Guest Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 I find "Race Fit" by vet David Palmer a very useful book to have,it is very handy for diagnosing illnesses and goes into all ailments in some detail and recomendations for treatment/prognosis etc,it's also peppered with light hearted anecdotes.
David Home Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I would recommend you read everything you can get your hands on. Agree with speckled hen that your loft book is an invaluable source of information. Provided youv'e written absolutely everything down.
Pompey Mick Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 'Winning Naturally ' by Alf Baker is an excellent read.
Guest Hjaltland Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Masters of Breeding & Racing - Victor Vansalen. Lots of good reading in it, fine for dipping into.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted July 21, 2007 Report Posted July 21, 2007 One of my closest friends bought me a copy of Pigeons For Everyone today, had a quick look through it and looks to be a very interesting book, a lot to interest anybody who has anything to do with all aspects of pigeons, whether racing , showing , breeding , covers a whole year in the loft and also has some excellent illustrations, maybe this will keep me from reading playboy for a bit .
